TAOKAKA - SUMMARY

Drive attack: Dancing Edge

Taokaka has the ability to dash and fly towards the opponent at high speeds with her claws out and confuse the enemy by canceling these drives with different inputs. She is the only character in the game that taunts mid-combo to continue for high damage. Although her mobility and damage are exceptionally high, she has poor HP, and very few options for defense. If anything, evasion is her key instead of defense. In Continuum Shift, she has the ability to loop her taunt multiple times and with enough practice, you can deal ridiculous amounts of damage without ANY use of meter.

TAOKAKA - SPECIAL MOVES

Cat Spirit One! (236A, repeatable)

Taokaka flaps her arms with claws out in front of her for decent horizontal and great vertical range. This move is staple bread and butter for combos and is great for pressure with its multiple hits. Also, this move is drive cancel-able, so your pressure can be customized! Be careful to hit it multiple times against a skilled player though, as they have the ability to instant block and retaliate with the predictable timing this move has.

Cat Spirit Two! (236B, in air, repeatable)

New to Continuum Shift, her Cat Spirit Two has completely different properties than her CT predecessor. This move itself is actually a total of five hits and has a unique property of getting an un-prorated 500 free damage at the end no matter the proration of the combo beforehand! The downside is that the final hit has knockback properties and you have no oki game post-successful full Cat Spirit Two (Specific height combos can change that though). This move is commonly found at the end of combos.

Cat Spirit Three! (236C, chargeable, repeatable)

Taokaka heavily slashes down and up for great damage. It is not recommended to repeat this move, as it is slow and easily blockable. The first hit has overhead properties. While this is unsafe to use by itself, it is most commonly found mid combo. You will almost always 2d~9 after this move to continue comboing your opponent into the air.

Kitty Litter Special! (214A/B/C, chargeable for C)

Taokaka throws a completely random set of projectiles. Different items have different properties. The pillow bounces for two hits if the first hit confirms, the baseball if whiffed will come back around the stage again, and the bowling ball breaks one guard primer. Even though the animation was slightly sped up in the shift to Continuum Shift, it is arguably one of the worst moves in BlazBlue.

Cat Jump! (214D)

Tao leaps forward in an arc. An extremely useful move for high level players. Many moves can be canceled into Cat Jump, and post-Cat Jump mid-air, it is extremely customizable. This is also a key component to Taokaka's deadly taunt loop.

Sticky Kitty (214D, in air at edge of screen, chargeable, press 6 for extra move)

Taokaka cutely clings onto the wall as an evasive maneuver. She will slowly slip down over time, but has the ability to jump off the wall extremely fast and far. It's both a great offensive and evasive move. One strategy is clinging and jumping off the wall if you failed a combo in the corner that would've left you vulnerable if you had dropped down.

Trick Edge! ([2]8D, press 2 or 4 for extra moves)

Taokaka leaps back the the edge of the screen and comes back at lightning fast speeds. To confuse the opponent further it can be drive canceled.

Slashy-slashy! (22C)

Taokaka rears up and spouts nail files out of her hands in a multi-hit move. Both the startup and recovery are long, it does little damage, and there are not many combo's or pressure strings that can incorporate this move. Not recommended to use.

Distortion Drives

Cat Person's Secret Art: Hexa-Edge (236236D)

Taokaka does a berserker-barrage-esqe 6 hit slash. The final slash knocks down the opponent. She has invincibility on startup, which is extremely useful for Taokaka since she has little to no defensive measures at all. Use this if you know the opponent is going to commit to a move you can punish through.

I'mma beat the crap outta you! (214214C)

Taokaka pounces towards the enemy in a super thats considered a throw. If the throw connects, she rears back claws out, and proceeds to "Beat the crap out of them". An extremely unsafe distortion drive, as it is inaccurate, VERY punishable, and does not hit crouching opponents. Not recommended to use.

Almost Becoming Two! (236236B)

Taokaka dances for a moment and gains a doppel-ganger. Her damage is cut in half, and her clone does not have any overhead or low properties. But all of her moves are jump cancelable and are extremely hard to defend against. A great option for if your opponent has very low health and you need to get a hit in.

Astral Heat

Name ([4]28D)

Simliar to Trick Edge, Taokaka leaps back to the edge of the screen, and attempts to tackle the opponent so hard they go to cat paradise. If successful, she then proceeds to pinball the opponent around with the help of her kaka kittens, and finishes it off with a whiffed jumping slash (Jubei kill-steals). The jump back and pounce forward animation is completely invincible. The opponent CAN block the hit. If they do Taokaka will slide past them and it is punishable.
