A parry is something that came into popularity through Street Fighter 3. To perform a parry hit forward or down on your joystick/pad/whatever depending if the attack is high or low, if you perform this at the right time you will see the parry animation and it will leave you at a frame advantage. Parries have zero frame startup and no startup or whiff animation, so they can be safely option selected with any move that uses a forward or down-forward input.
