Usually you see a bunch of mods for sticks but I thought this one was really exceptional. An SRK poster by the name of DevilsFang posted up a small write up of how he put a Hori Tekken 5 pcb inside a Sega Saturn pad.
"I have been wondering this for quite some time, and since I'm between projects right now and I had all the parts I needed floating around, I decided to give it a shot."
The Sega Saturn pad is widely seen as the best controller to use in pad play for all fighting games, shmups, and scrolling beatemups. Some say it has the best d-pad ever and it's 6 button layout makes it optimal for streetfighter play.
Sony at one point did release Saturn style pads for PS2 with the Darkstalkers pad and standard style Saturn Pad but those are very hard to find these days and fetch a pretty penny on ebay and yahoo japan auctions. This mod makes it possible for any diy person to make their own PS2 playable pad at an extremely low cost. I may just try it myself in a few days. :P
Props to DevilsFang for coming up with a great idea. For those looking for Saturn Style Pads, Madcatz has the upcoming Fight Pads for PS3/360 for now generation systems.
