« EVOLUTION 2010 TOURNAMENT GAMES ANNOUNCED »
Shoryuken.com held a live podcast tonight detailing all the new games and events that will be at EVO2K10! Some of the choices are pretty obvious but others will surprise you.
Super Street Fighter 4
The one game that pretty much everyone knew would show up at Evolution. With the game coming out in April, players will have about 3 months to practice up before the massive tournament.
This of course will be the largest game of EVO with 2000+ entrants expected to show up, so we will be sure to see plenty of hype matches and a ton of upsets.
Tekken 6
Another no-brainer for EVO, this is one of the biggest games right now with a dedicated fan base. This is also the first year that the console version is not behind the arcade version so this should be one of the best tournaments of the event.
Super Street Fighter II Turbo: HD Remix
Another game with a very dedicated fan base returns to EVO. Last year the semi-finals for HD Remix were very exciting so I know this will make not only the players but many of the spectators very happy.
Femme Fatale Tournament
A first for EVO, as far as I know, a females only Street Fighter 4 tournament! We are seeing more and more of these tournaments pop up these days with the influx of female players, but I am still surprised they made this a full fledged event for EVO. Will we see any Japanese female players come over such as Choco Blanka?
BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger
A choice that personally makes me scratch my head, BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, and not the new Continuum Shift. Now we know Continuum Shift is not out yet and Mr. Wizard mentioned that the new game will not be out before EVO so there isn't much they can do in regard to having the new version available to play. That said, many Calamity Trigger plays have dropped the game completely at this point so I expect to see this game get very low numbers.
Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Ultimate All Stars
CAPCOMS newest fighter makes the cut this year and I am glad to see that is the case. This game is a lot of fun and will open up the possibility of bringing in a whole new demographic of players to EVO. With the game just released yesterday, everyone has plenty of time to step up their game and become a land mine in the EVO pools for this game.
Players Choice Game
Now this is something else I didn't expect - a Players Choice poll where the players will decide the last game at EVO! It's been years since they ran seven games at EVO, so this is a great opportunity for fans of games such as Street Fighter 3, Marvel and even Capcom vs SNK 2 to speak up and let the EVO staff that their game is not dead!
