« Seasons Beatings 5: Great Tournament or Greatest Tournament? »

EVO2K10 seems like it was just yesterday and who would have thought just a few months later would another tournament come along and provide just as many, if not more, unbelievable matches and moments. Seasons Beatings 5 ended up being one of the most intense tournaments of the year with so much on the line for so many players. I spent the majority of Sunday watching the stream in amazement that each match had so much going on.

At EVO2K10, Daigo still placed first, but with Justin Wong not landing a top 8 spot and numerous other upsets it was a clear indicator that it's the end of an era. Days gone by it was fairly easy to predict the top three of most major tournaments but not anymore. Now, Seasons Beatings 5 further indicates that with Super Street Fighter 4, it's anyone's game.

Hat's off again to Taiwan's hero, Gamerbee! He was one of EVO2K10's stars, and this time he took home first place! He fought his way back from losers, after being put there by Justin Wong's Makoto, and ended up eliminating Justin in loser's finals! Payback!

When I heard Daigo was knocked into losers by "best Bipson" EMP Andre "Twisted Jago" Lambert I knew this tournament was going to be wild. Daigo Crouching FP into Super versus Arturo Sanchez, Justin Wong picking Makoto versus GamerBee and GamerBee putting a stop to the gimmicks to ultimately go up against Momochi in the grand finals. And of course, who can forget Marn taking Daigo out of the tournament completely with a clutch Ultra from Dudley? Daigo Umehara placing 25th at a major tournament? What the hell is going on here?

The list goes on and on for insane matches at Seasons Beatings but at the end of the day, the placements don't lie. Here is a top 8 for Super Street Fighter 4.

1. GamerBee (Adon)
2. Momochi (Ken)
3. EG Justin Wong (Makoto/Cammy/Rufus/Balrog)
4. TS Arturo "Sabin" Sanchez (Dhalsim/Rose)
5. Mike Ross (E. Honda)
5. EMP Sanford Kelly (Sagat/C. Viper)
7. EMP Dieminion (Guile)
7. FYC MarlinPie (Cammy)

Thanks to EventHubs for providing the SSF4 results for Seasons Beatings 5.

Outside of Super Street Fighter 4, there was plenty of hype for other games as well such as Marvel vs Capcom 2 with IFC Yipes taking it all versus Chris Schmidt and the numerous "touches of death" by J360. We have to be thankful to have such dedicated people in the scene like Sp00ky from Team Spooky who -- despite all the technical difficulties -- brought us all these great matches through out the entire weekend.

So what are your thoughts on Seasons Beatings? What was your favorite moment of the tournament? Was this a great tournament or the greatest tournament you've experienced either being there personally or watching the stream? Sound off in the comments and let us know!
