« Peacefuljay’s Saltstream - Wait Your Turn »
Some love it, some hate it.
It can leave a bitter taste in our mouth’s when we know we can do better, because lag has an effect on our overall execution, fundamentals, mind games, and reactions. Not to mention all the hate messages and inability to socialize and meet new people.
These are just a few of the things -- maybe all of the things -- about online play that I’ve hated since the very beginning. However, during the last week, Lamerboi recently discovered something new and innovative that’s never been done before in the Fighting Game Community: An endless lobby and non-stop 24-hour stream, seven days a week.
You read that correctly, 24-hours a day, seven days a week hosted by Peacefuljay.
Soon after it’s discovery, Lamerboi got me involved with this stream and I began to fell in love.
This is how the process works: It’s an 8-man public lobby (but technically 7 because Peacefuljay only hosts the stream) open to players of almost all skill levels. To play in the lobby, you either get lucky finding a spot or getting an invite from Peacefuljay or Lamerboi (if Lamerboi’s account is in there).
What Peacefuljay brings to the community isn’t just a regular stream for everybody to watch. It’s an opportunity for everybody to get involved with the community for the better or worse. This has become a central stream for individuals all over the nation to be given a chance to play against the best of the best (and occasionally the worst of the worst), socialize, and improve your game.
Need an example? Lamerboi, Alex Valle, Zeniside, Kenshiro, LiquidSRK, IFC_RIcky, Juicebox, Mr. SNK, Vangief, Steinmania, SidtheSquid, Jason Cole, Tanaka, Ramenbee, Doug Funny, Grimmz... the list goes on. Here’s a very technical match from Valle and Lamerboi:
We have players from the East Coast playing others from as far as the islands of Hawaii. At the same time, you have a great crowd who love to troll, but can be very insightful. Here’s a troll match from Lamerboi, trolling with his stupid shades at the end of a match:
You’ll find some of the most salty players in the stream as well! I nearly banned someone after I got bodied by Mr. SNK because he called me Crackfree, even though he was joking. That’s Morton’s baby!
This stream is the epitome of what the community is supposed to stand for.
Everything is here. However, don’t let this be a tool for you to stay home and not attend events. Come to this stream, meet the people, get involved, and then go to local or national events if possible. Go to SCR, NCR, Season’s Beatings. Support your local scene’s. Support this community.
But first thing’s first, come check out the stream: www.justin.tv/peacefuljay
Follow his stream, and also follow me @Crackfiend on Twitter for updates on open slots, what events are going on, and to find out which one of your favorite players is currently on the stream!
Come to watch, play, and wait your turn.
