« IPW Site Updates: Return of the Player Database, Navigation and Loading Improvements »

Hey everyone, just a quick heads up on a few changes we made here recently on the site with most of these being things I've been meaning to take care of forever now. I get pretty busy with the day to day responsibilities of IPW so unfortunately things don't get taken care of as quickly as I'd like around here. That said, I hope to put more focus on the site over the following weeks and months now that I'm back from Japan.

Player Database

This is an ambitious project that I've always wanted to put more time into and what better time that now? While the Player Database is certainly rough around the edges, I've made it easier for everyone to contribute by adding an entry form to the site. I'll be using this same format to revise each entry and hopefully this will allow us to eventually build up a comprehensive list of players in the community. 

Most of the entries in there now were created about a year ago so there is still a lot of work ahead of us. If you see any corrections or simply want to submit a new player profile (even one of yourself), just hit the link to the form on the main page and shoot it over!

Recent Comments

I've added a small widget on the right hand side that will allow you to see where all the conversation is taking place on IPW. This displays recent comments and most popular threads, not to mention top ranked commenters. 

Ranbat Standings

Also on the right hand side, you can now find the latest standings for the Southtown Arcade Ranbats. This column will be updated following each ranbat as soon as possible. In the future we'll probably limit it to the top eight-or-so placers but for now it's the complete list. 

Cleaned up Navigation

I made a few changes to the overall navigation of the site which should allow for quicker loading times all around. I know many of you load the site on mobile devices so hopefully this will result in you being able to get to the news you care about quicker!

"How can I help?"

We can certainly use a little help around here as the site continues to grow. If you're looking to contribute to IPW here are a few key things we're in need of.

"What's Next?"

As I mentioned above, there are more improvements to be made in the following weeks and months. Here are a few things we plan on rolling out soon: 

• Live Stream Directory
• Tournament & Event Listings Blog/Page
• Glossary Submission Form

Our main focus will be rolling out a way for everyone to quickly find out which streams are live. We are in the process of implementing this now so keep and eye out for it.

Beyond that, many people ask me why their tournaments and events don't make it to the front page. It's pretty simple: I get super busy and barely have enough time to post IPW events. I'm working on a system that will allow registered users to post about their tournaments, events and stream on IPW without my help so keep an eye out for that as well.
