Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog returns to the Super Smash Bros. series as the first confirmed guest character. Sonic will retain his modern design and will likely feature his moveset from Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Sonic originally was the subject of an April Fools joke by Electronic Gaming Monthly where they hoaxed readers to believing the Sega icon was playable in Super Smash Bros. Melee. The Blue Blur would officially premiere in Brawl as a playable character.
