« San Diego's Paradise 2015 Tournament Cancelled »
Larry "Shin Blanka" Dixon has announced that Paradise 2015, scheduled for Nov. 20-22 in San Diego, has been cancelled.
In a post to the Paradise group on Facebook, Dixon said the primary reason for the cancellation of the event was a lack of interest from the community. Saying that perhaps he overreached by trying to plan a major event on the West Coast, Dixon regardless thanked everyone who supported the event. He also said that he would be refunding everyone who registered for the event:
I'm in the process of refunding everyone that pre registered for this event. I didn't want any shady vibe coming off about the event, so I started refunding people before I made the announcement. ... With the low pre reg numbers there was no way to reach goals/purpose of the event and that was to be able to send the winners of each game to FR19. There's been other events throughout the fgc history that has promised things and knew they couldn't follow through with payments/trips and still had the event while leaving the players hanging at the end of the event. I refuse to a shady event like that so it's better that I take the "L" on my head than to try to steal from the community I help grow for so long!
