« Two Sponsors Add Notable Fighting Game Players »

Two big-name signings occurred on March 9 as both Leffen and NYChrisG joined new sponsors. 

Team SoloMid picked up William "Leffen" Hjelte, the Super Smash Bros. Melee player who TSM describes as "one of the top 6 players Melee players in the World." Previously known for League of Legends, Hearthstone and CounterStrike: Global Offensive, TSM will welcome Leffen as its first fighting game player.

Hjelte has defeated all of the Melee "gods" in tournament sets, and has placed highly at some of the marquee Melee tournaments including Apex 2015. 

"I've searched long and hard for an organisation that fit me well and I can safely say that I've found what I was looking for," Hjelte said. "I feel like I've only been a step away from being the best for a while now. With TSM's support, I'm confident that I'll be able to take that step and then some!”

In other news, Hearthstone team TempoStorm has created a fighting game community branch to its operations, adding Christopher "NYChrisG" Gonzalez to its roster. Gonzalez is most known for his UMvC3 gameplay, but he has also won tournaments or placed well in many other titles including Injustice and Street Fighter IV.

"I was looking for a way to travel to events and get into streaming to further my gaming career," Gonzalez said. "We had the same goals in mind and we came to an agreement. I'm happy to say that I'm a part of Tempo Storm!”

Gonzalez's first event as part of TempoStorm will be Final Round 18 in March.
