« Namco's "Chaos Breaker" coming to PSN this Summer as "Dark Awake" »

Recom will be bringing a 2D sprite-based fighter called "Dark Awake: The king has no name" to PSN in Japan this Summer. This game appears to be a port of Taito's 2004 Type X arcade fighting game "Chaos Breaker" with a new title.
Originally developed by Eolith, Dark Awake is a team-based fighting game with a fantasy theme. It has a cast of 22 fighters including barbarians, skeliton knights, trolls, dwarves, and more. Teams of three characters face off and you can pick up weapons and items while fighting.
The PSN version of the game will include an arcade mode, and online mode with both Ranked and Player Match options, and a training mode. Recom also added voice chat, Trophies, and the ability to directly add people you've fought to your PSN friend list.
Dark Awake will see PSN download release this Summer for Japan at ¥2000. No word if this is coming to PSN for North America or Europe. There aren't too many 2D fighting games on PSN at this time, so this game's release on the service will strengthen that lineup weakness a bit.
The screenshots above are the only ones released thus far. It has a "Golden Axe: The Duel" (Sega Saturn) vibe, which is great! If anybody has played this, we'd love to hear about it.

Here's a pretty low quality video of Chaos Breaker in action. It still reminds me of Golden Axe: The Duel. Thanks to Shoryuken.com for pointing this out. Check it out here.
