Next week Friday, a new organisation holds its first tournament in the UK. The European Console League launches, feating a number of FPS games like Halo, Soccer (Fifa 10) and most importantly, Super Street Fighter IV.
Thanks to a partnership with Capcom, entrance to the Super Street Fighter IV tournament is FREE(!), with entrants only needing to pay £10 to enter the venue.
The European Console League event will be held at the BT Convention Centre in Liverpool, England over 30th July - 1st August. SSFIV is a one-day tournament taking place on Saturday with a cap of 200 players. Group stages then double elimination.
The prize money breakdown will be as follows:
France's StarNab will be in attendance going for top spot with his Fei Long; he will have to fend off the likes of Dignitas' Zak Bennett if he wants the gold. Lowland Lions' Ryan Hart is rumoured to also be in attendance.
A stream of the event will be at http://www.ecl.eu/coverage.php - it will switch between games but should cover the entire top 8 portion of the tournament.
