« IMNEXTONLINE: Character Analysis »
First off, if you haven't checked out IMNEXTONLINE.COM, you should; it's a great site with up-to-date news with some interesting original articles to boot. One of the more interesting segments on INO is their Character Analysis articles. We all know about Ryu and Ken, but they go into detail on lesser known characters, providing what is more or less a mini-strategy guide for each one. They also give the history of each character along with other bits of information.
Their latest entry is on A.B.A from the Guilty Gear series -- here's an excerpt from the "Design" portion of the article, read the rest here.
DESIGN: A.B.A. design is really original, she is like a combination of Frankenstein + a Silent Hill Nurse. Yeah, she is cute/sexy (depending on who sees her) + freaky. I said she reminds me to Frankenstein because of her undead look how she has things though her body. And why the Silent Hill Nurse? Well due to her white bandages with blood spots and the fact that she uses medical bags of blood to feed Paracelsus and change his form. She also has a really cool thematic on her, the use of Keys, she has a Key going through her head, she uses her lover “Paracelsus” who is a key as a weapon too. Now that we talk about Paracelsus, he also adds more personality to the character, because he looks funny in his normal form, yet demonic in his alternative form. Her movements during fight also show her personality and character perfectly, she is always laying by Paracelsus while looking all fragile doing so. This clearly express A.B.A. shyness and weakness while Paracelsus is her strong pillar and the one who can fight. She is a really cool design all around, one I enjoyed since her debut, unfortunately her voice can get annoying as I mentioned earlier, but then again I understand why her voice is like that.
