« Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition: Console Version Details from Seth Killian »

Capcom’s Seth Killian gave a few more details about the console version of Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition during the Team Sp00ky stream of the 2nd Annual Spring Fighter Tournament.  It pertains mostly to how those who have upgraded can interact with players who have not and about balance changes between the coming console version and the actual arcade version.

Here is a summary, with the information courtesy of Eventhubs.

  • ·         The console version of Arcade Edition is a perfect port of the version currently in arcades, so don’t expect any new balance changes.
  • ·         Super Street Fighter 4 players who do not upgrade to Arcade Edition can’t play against the new characters.  However, they do get the benefits of the upgraded replay system and can also watch Arcade Edition replays.
  • ·         If you upgrade to Arcade Edition you get the option to play Super Street Fighter 4 or Arcade Edition.  This choice is made at the title screen.  So no, you cannot choose Super SF4 or AE versions of individual characters to mix and match versions.
  • ·         Super Street Fighter 4 users who do not upgrade to Arcade Edition do not get the balance changes to the characters that are part of Arcade Edition.  Capcom wanted to leave Super intact for those players who preferred that version over Arcade Edition.  They also apparently weren’t sure how old characters (Super SF4 versions) would match up against Arcade Edition’s new characters without the balance changes made in Arcade Edition.
