« Ono: Namco "way behind schedule" on Tekken X Street Fighter and "haven't made a single design document yet" »

Street Fighter X Tekken is on store shelves now and it's fantastic, but those waiting for Namco's take on the crossover may not want to hold thier breath as it may be a while.  Capcom's Yoshinori Ono told GamesMaster Magazine in its April issue that Namco Bandai is "way behind schedule", that they haven't even created a single design document, and even jokes at a 2018 release date.  Read on for more from Ono:

“It might take a really long time to come out because they haven’t made a single design document yet, so they’re way behind schedule. But we definitely trust them, so whenever that game gets out the door we think they’ll have a really good thing.

“Just to reiterate that point, they really haven’t made any progress on the game at all. It might be 2018 before the game comes out for all we know, and in the mean time, we want people to enjoy Street Fighter X Tekken. Hopefully we can make it past the Mayan end-of-the-world apocalypse at the end of 2012 and then maybe they can get around to making the game.”

For those who don't know, Street Fighter X Tekken was announced at Comic Con 2010 and at that same event Namco Bandai announced their own crossover, Tekken X Street Fighter.  Very little has surfaced on Namco's game since then (including the very rough concept model pic shown left.  The company has stated that they did not intend get going full speed on the title until after Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is done, but you would think they would be farther along than this.  Thanks to NEOGAF for the tip and to Gaming Everything for breaking the news.
