Mysterious version 5.2 update coming to ARMS

[Update March 7, 3:56 a.m. CST]: Nintendo has released the new patch, which adds Party Crash mode Big Time ARMS as an option in regular battle along with several different weapon and character tweaks. Readers can visit the Nintendo website for the whole list of changes.

Nintendo's arena brawler will soon be getting an unknown update.

A tweet on March 5 from the official ARMS Twitter account confirmed that a new update is on its way for the title.

According to Siliconera, the Nintendo had previously stated that the final update for ARMS would be version 5.0, which saw the release of Dr. Coyle.

The update and what it will add or change in ARMS is currently unknown. The tweet is composed as a message from ARMS commentator Biff, who explains that information has been restricted. He does point out, however, that someone from the ARMS Laboratory was saying that certain experiments were a success.

A new character, stage and ARMS have all been added as part of the version 5.0 update that is now available for ARMS.

The new character is Dr. Coyle, a scientist who fights out of the stage [NAME REDACTED]. Coyle's abilities include "a spurt of invisibility after guarding, an extra ARM attack that appears after charging, and the ability to punch, dash, and block while levitating in the air."

She is joined in the update by three new ARMS—Lokjaw, Parabola, and Brrchuk—and several balance tweaks.

Springtron tests his iron will in ARMS 4.1

Spring Man's robotic doppelganger and various balance adjustments have been rolled out by Nintendo for the new update of ARMS.

Springtron was formerly only a boss character, but now players will get a chance to utilize his unique abilities. While he shares the same ARMS as Spring Man, Springtron's shockwave ability disables ARMS instead of simply deflecting them.

The 4.1 update also brings changes to Misango and the new ARMS from version 4.0, as well as other alterations and new badges for players to unlock. Players can check out the full list of updates at Nintendo.

Misango brings a sting to ARMS in version 4.0

ARMS version 4.0 has been released, bringing with it a new character, stage and more ARMS for use in battle.

The new character is Misango, whose home stage is the debuting Temple Grounds arena. Misango's special ability in ARMS revolves around the mysterious entity that floats above him: he can absorb it to gain special powers.

Misango can choose to simply absorb the entity or use it first as a shield then absorb it, and depending on its color when absorbed he will either gain armor (red), increased mobility (blue) or "the ability to automatically block all incoming blows for a short period of time upon activating his rush combo" (yellow).

Misango arrives with three new ARMS all that use poison. The Scorpio crawls on the ground or turns into a disc in the air before delivering a poisonous stab; the Glusher is a heavy weapon that bounces once or twice before smashing the opponent; and the Skully is one of the fastest attacks in the game, but can be knocked aside by heavier ARMS.

For more information on the ARMS 4.0 update, readers can check out the Nintendo Treehouse Log. The Misango trailer can be found after the jump.

ARMS update brings new stage, balance changes

Version 3.1 of ARMS has launched for the Nintendo Switch, bringing with it a small number of balance adjustments and a new stage to both casual and ranked play.

The Sparring Ring is now selectable by players and will come up in ranked matches. The square stage has no gimmicks and was previously only part of the Warm-up minigame.

In terms of balance, Ninjara has received a distance boost to his airdash, while several of the ARMS have seen small tweaks in terms of extension or retraction time. Readers can check out the complete list of changes on the Nintendo website.

ARMS version 3.0 to allow control customization

When the newest update for ARMS launches to the public, it will allow players to further personalize their playing experience.

Nintendo has announced that 3.0 will allow players to change the game's controls, remapping buttons and even adjusting motion control sensitivity. This is a welcome change for people who find the game's controls difficult or who opted out of purchasing ARMS because it lacked that adaptability.

The new option will roll out along with Lola Pop, a new stage and three new weapons sometime between Sept. 11-20, 2017.

Nintendo rolls out details on Lola Pop

The Nintendo Treehouse Log has been updated explaining how Lola Pop's unique abilities will work when she is added to the ARMS roster.

Lola's inflated state is the character's blocking animation, and it grants her special abilities during a battle. While blocking the character can move forward or backward, execute a very fast dodge left or right and she jumps higher than normal.

Once in the air Lola has the ability to use what Treehouse calls a "bouncy block," where she inflates, fast-falls and bounces off the floor of the arena, making her the only character that can block while jumping. She can then continue to bounce until she tries to punch.

The Treehouse Log also explains the new weapons coming in the update with Lola Pop. The Funchuck acts like the Slapamander but with more startup and a stun; the Biffler is a three-shot weapon that blinds on hit; and the Clapback is a shield that reflects ARMS back at the opponent.

There is still no release date for the Lola Pop update to ARMS. For more details, readers can check out the Treehouse Log.

Lola Pop isn't clowning around as she prepares to join the ARMS roster

Lola Pop is the next DLC fighter coming to ARMS, and three new weapons will be joining her.

Lola is a clown-themed pugilist that can inflate her suit to both drop to the ground faster while jumping and also shield herself from attacks. She fights in the sweets-themed stage that was first revealed by Nintendo on Aug. 14.

She is shown fighting with three new arms. One is a nunchaku-based weapon, while the second is fires three paint stamps starting in a vertical formation like the Hydra and the last is a flat shield that can reflect attacks back at the opponent.

Lola will joins ARMS as part of the version three update. Readers can check out Lola's trailer after the jump.

Nintendo teases new ARMS character with grainy footage

The Switch's arena fighter will be getting a new character, but Nintendo isn't ready to reveal the competitor's full identity just yet.

Instead, the company is dropping hints about ARMS' newest addition. One hint first appeared courtesy of Nintendo Versus on Aug. 14 in the form of new sweets-themed stage coming to the title. Then on Aug. 16 a purposely grainy and muddled clip of the new character fighting on that stage appeared.

The new character seems strangely dressed and Nintendo commented that they have "unique clothes and arms... seems like their fighting style involves transforming their body!"

For now it's hard to tell who or what the new character is, but posters on the ARMS Reddit seem convinced it's a clown. Nintendo, meanwhile, is staying tight-lipped about the new addition or when the character and new stage will be coming to ARMS.

Readers can check out the clip of the new pugilist in action after the jump.

The champ is almost here: Max Brass coming to ARMS

The greatest champion in ARMS history will be joining the game as DLC in July.

Max Brass has arms made out of championship belts, and has the ability to buff himself up to where he will not flinch when hit much like Master Mummy. When his Brass' health gets below a quarter, his arms are permanently charged like Spring Man.

While Brass will be part of the game's second update, ARMS will get its first update in June when Spectator Mode is added to the title. Readers, meanwhile, can check out the first footage of Max Brass from Nintendo's Twitch archives (starting at roughly four hours and 57 minutes) after the jump.

ARMS Direct details upcoming beta, free updates after release

Nintendo's ARMS presentation on May 17 not only included new characters, but also more details about the game before and after its release.

Before its release on June 16, 2017, ARMS will have two weekends where it will undergo a public beta test. Much in the vein of Splatoon's Global Testfire dates, ARMS Global Testpunch will take place on May 26-28 and June 2-4 in North America and allow players to both demo the game and check connection quality with other players.

And while the Testpunch will happen before ARMS is released, once the game comes out Nintendo has announced that the company will be adding stages, characters and arms all as free updates for players.

To get all the new information in video form, readers can check out Nintendo's presentation after the jump.

Three new characters leak ahead of ARMS Direct

Just hours before the ARMS Direct presentation by Nintendo on May 17, 2017, a leaked trailer and images revealed three new characters and a team versus mode.

The three new characters are Byte & Barq, Twintelle and Kid Cobra. Byte & Barq is a combination robot policeman and dog, which acts randomly as a third arm; Twintelle uses her hair to fight; and as his name implies Kid Cobra seems to slither like a serpent.

Also revealed was the game's 2v2 mode, in which players are tethered to one another as they fight in the arenas.

Readers can expect more on the characters, modes and more when Nintendo officially reveals the information. ARMS is scheduled for release on June 16, 2017.

Two new trailers introduce the cast and weapons of Arms

Nintendo of Japan has released two new trailers giving players a closer look at what they can expect from the company's new arena fighter, Arms.

The first trailer is "Arm Encyclopedia," and shows how the six different types of punch—fire, thunder, boomerang, revolver, salamander and big punch—can be used to outwit and outmuscle your opponent.

The second trailer is an overview of the five characters in the game—Spring Man, Ribbon Girl, Ninjara, Master Mummy and Mechanica—showing off their different strengths and gameplay features. Master Mummy, for example, seems to have a level of super armor where he can shrug off smaller blows and continue to advance on the opponent.

Arms is scheduled to release sometime in spring 2017. Players can check out the trailers after the jump.
