« STREET FIGHTER CLUB SAN FRANCISCO: Event Review by Thrust07 »

While our main man Haunts is representing the Bay Area Street Fighter players at the California Regionals in Southern Cali, we had a great time here at Capcom's Street Fighter Club in San Francisco.
For four amazing Street Fighter-filled hours, Capcom's event staff threw an underground party at a location open only to those who RSVPed by special invite. The room was filled with a myriad of PS3s with matching HD TVs, each playing the latest version of Street Fighter IV, complete with its new edition of characters. There were even a few stations with Street Fighter HD Remix. The very fabulous Viewlix cabinets also made an appearance, while each PS3 was outfitted with all the new controllers from MadCatz. That's right, that includes the new MadCatz Standard and Tournament Edition Fight Sticks, as well as the Fight Pads and various HRAPs. They even had pizza and a (pretty good) live DJ.
Featured are 1up.com's Richard "Heday" Li and Capcom's own Marcos "n3ss" smiling for the camera between playing rounds of SFIV on the Viewlix cabs.
Free schwag included the SF Fight Club poster (located at the top of this post), a S.I.N. shirt (with a really dope crumbling Shadoloo logo), an SF IV headband in the likes of Ryu for the creepy cosplayers, and a Street Fighter "Fight Club" soap bar. Lastly, the grab bag included a Street Fighter 2 Issue #1 "Raw Edition", a black and white version of the comic that is drawn in pencil, before inking, coloring and lettering were applied. Commentary by Udon artists Ken Siu-Chong and Alvin Lee are displayed at the bottom of each page.
Besides getting in time with the new SFIV characters and collecting schwag, highlights of the night included watching Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo/Capcom vs SNK 2 EVO Champion John Choi and Super Turbo technical genius Nick "NKI" go at it in a 3/5 match in HD Remix. For the sake of saving face, I'll let you ask them who won.
I even snuck in a picture with the two. Hope you guys had fun getting drinks later that night.
Street Fighter living legend and occasional HD Remix sparring partner Spider-Dan was also there to partake in the festivities. If you don't already know who he is, he makes a rather important appearance in Bang the Machine (You'll watch it at EVO). He's with me, Nate "Fudd" and Guile.
In the end, I have to say Capcom did a wonderful job, not only in promoting the premiere of Street Fighter IV but in throwing a rockin' party. Get ready for the new Street Fighter, ladies and gentlemen.
