« Capcom Arcade: Street Fighter 2 and Three Other Arcade Classics Hit iPhone »
Return to the heyday of the arcade in all its retro glory with the release of Capcom Arcade for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Free to download and offering three free plays a day, Capcom Arcade is packed with four of Capcom's most popular coin-op titles including Street Fighter II, the original Ghouls 'N Ghosts, 1942 and Commando.
Capcom Arcade features near pixel-perfect translations of these four classics games. Each day players will get three free plays that they can use for any game in the arcade. If they'd like to play more, additional "Tokens" can be purchased in the Capcom Arcade and mega fans can also buy a "Cabinet" outright for unlimited play and maximum value.
Additionally, Capcom Arcade offers two play modes for each game, "iPhone Mode" and "Original Mode." "iPhone Mode" offers a slightly more forgiving gameplay experience, while "Original Mode," as the name implies, is an exact representation of the original difficulty and controls. Players can further customize their gameplay experience with special premium DLC "cheats" that unlock special abilities, upgrades and weapons like extra planes in 1942 or body armor for Commando.
Capcom Arcade is available on the Apple App Store for free. Additional games will be added on a monthly basis. Ten tokens are available for $.99 as an in-app purchase or players can buy any game "Cabinet" outright and play as much as they like for a one-time $2.99 in-app purchase price.

Needs more Andriod.
This would be pretty cool on my Droid X. It's large screen would be good for something like this with onscreen controls.
On iphone tho, I played around with SF4 and it plays remarkably well, so if SF2 is anything like that it's pretty good!
really, sf4 plays well for you on iphone? Actually the game itself is all good for me, but i can't get a handle on the controls... too much friction on the screen for me, and I can't get specials to come out consistently. I pretty much hate any touchscreen virtual joysticks though, i just suck at it i guess : /
When I say plays pretty good, I mean that i expected complete trash and didn't turn out to be as bad as my expectations lol!
While it doesn't play anywhere near 100% of the console ver, I'd say it faithfully captures the "spirit" of the game, which is saying a lot when you consider that you're playing it on a tiny screen, on your PHONE, with controls that also share the screen space. Considering all that, it isn't bad at all for the handicaps.
SF4 on iPhone is pretty great for when you need to waste a few minutes on the bus. Also, the free character updates don't hurt.
This Capcom Arcade thing seems sorta ridiculous though.
yeah, It's cool for the bus or waiting in doctors office and stuff... i just really suck at moving that damn joystick. The 10 coins for .99 vs 2.99 forever seems stupid to me (Or at least for the consumer...probably a good idea for them cuz most people will probably figure if you're gonna spend .99, you might as well pay hte 2.99 and be done with it)... they should just sell all the games stand alone for .99.
Wow there is a lot of simple spelling mistakes on here for example on the part that tells you the controls and stuff it says "When receive a staggering brow" "Even the street fighter may be staggered by the heary blow" I havent played it yet just about to now, but i hope the gameplay itself is more polished.
Hmmm just had a little play, Ive never played SFIV on the iphone before so this was my first time using these controls and I have to say I just couldnt play properly, although I did find an easier way to control the stick than I was doing at first. At first I was putting my thumb on the red circle (the joystick itself) but i learned that its easier to just press the actual arrows instead. So for example put your thumb on the bottom arrow and sweep it round to the forward arrow for a fireball instead of trying to drag the joystick.
I've tried the 'just touch the arrows' thing before too, but that didn't work very well for me either. What i've done lately is take something like a small piece of a plastic bag- just enough to fit on the tip of my thumb, and control it that way. It's a LOT better than without it because it kills the friction, but I still can't get specials to come out consistently, and sometimes when I jump forward it just jumps straight up... I don't know if it's the game not registering well, or just me sucking at the controls, haha.
