« Interview with Haunts at ESFIWorld.com »
As you guys probably know, I'm not one to do interviews all that often, but ESFIWorld.com -- a competitive gaming media website -- pulled me away just long enough to pick my brain on a few topics. I go over how iPlayWinner.com came about, my thoughts on the current state of Super Street Fighter 4 and even what I think about the word "e-sports".
Below is a small chunk from the interview, but there is a lot more which you can find by clicking here. Be sure to poke around ESFIWorld.com as well. They have a lot of cool features and insight on other games besides just Street Fighter!
ESFI World: How did you get involved in competitive gaming?
I used to manage a Gamestop back in the day and whoop random peoples asses who would come through the store in Street Fighter III: Third Strike during my breaks. I pretty much thought I was the best player in the universe until I made a post on Shoryuken.com seeing if anyone wanted to come by and play me. A good friend of mine, and creator of the Final Round tournament series in Atlanta, GA, Larry "ShinBlanka" Dixon swung by and beat me 30 games straight. He pretty much opened my eyes to another level of play and I was hooked after that.
From there, I linked up with other players in and around the area, had my ups and downs in tournament play, but that was really the defining moment of making that switch between playing casually and feeling a deep hunger to get better at the game.
