« Captivate 2010: MARVEL VS CAPCOM 3: FATE OF TWO WORLDS ANNOUNCED - TEASER TRAILER »
Marvel vs Capcom 3 has officially been announced at Capcom's recent Captivate 2010 event, and with any new CAPCOM game, of course there is a teaser trailer to go along with it. This trailer is primarily CG but near the end you'll see Ryu firing off a Shinkuu-Hadouken, in what appears to be a visually upgraded TvC sprite. The game will be running on CAPCOMs MT Framework, which is the same engine used for their AAA titles such as Resident Evil 5 and Lost Planet 2, so it looks like we can expect this game to set the bar for what a fighting game should look like.
Here's which characters we can expect in the preliminary roster:
- Ryu
- Wolverine
- Morrigan
- Iron Man
- Hulk
- Chris Redfield
Digging a little deeper, if take a look at the silhouettes at the beginning of the movie, you can see outlines of some familiar characters as well, the most obvious being Chun Li. The rest are harder to make out for sure, and really who knows if all these characters will end up making it to the final build anyway, but it's always fun to speculate.
The game is currently planned for to come out Spring 2011 on XBOX360 and PS3.
More than the game itself, Marvel vs Capcom 3 being announced is a pretty clear message from CAPCOM that they are dedicated to the fighting game genre once again. Just six months to a year ago the idea of Marvel vs Capcom 3 ever coming out was usually reserved for April Fools jokes and bad Photoshops. This is obviously awesome news not only for MvC fans, but all fighting game fans.
