« E3: Ed Boon Interviewed by GT.TV: Mortal Kombat DLC Plans and More! »
NetherRealm's Ed Boon was interviewed during the GT.TV live broadcast at E3. During the interview he talks extensively about their DLC plans for Mortal Kombat as well as some other juicy topics. If you are a fan of the game, you will be pleased to find out that there is a lot coming down the pipeline through the summer and that if you buy the DLC, even more might be planned. Vote with your wallet!
Inside the article you will find a video with the complete interview. If you just want the info, I've mined the video for the important pieces of information for your convenience.
Here are the notes:
- Skarlet: Character is created from blood and feeds on blood.
- Skarlet is coming soon. She is expected in the next couple of weeks, but no exact date.
- Kenshi is the next DLC character to release after Skarlet.
- An "extensive" plan to really support the game with DLC that will go all through the summer. New characters and new "surprises" incoming.
- At least 4 new DLC characters are currently in the pipeline (Skarlet, Kenshi and 2 more) and future DLC plans will depend on how Skarlet performs (how many times she is downloaded).
- Kratos (exclusive character in PS3 version) was a perfect fit for the MK universe, so Boon hopes that he is the "beginning of bigger things to come".
- Ed Boon was asked about the new hardware debuted at E3 and was excited for both the Playstation Vita and the Nintendo Wii U and how they (NetherRealm) can apply their game to that hardware to expand the experience. Hinting at ports?
- He wanted the story mode in MK to be cinematic, like a movie, and feels like they have only scratched the surface with that. Also, if your favorite character died in the story, don't fret. With the storyline tied to time travel, it doesn't necessarily mean that any deceased characters are gone for good.
- Interestingly, Ed Boon says that the big plan for NetherRealm is to expand into other genres.
So, what do you think?
