Back from the lab: NKI returns with a new video exploiting Super Turbo

One of the longtime U.S. combo and glitch video makers has returned from hiatus as NKI has released an eight-minute video detailing some of the weird hitboxes and other system pecularities of the game known in North America as Super Street Fighter II: Turbo.

NKI was one of a handful of players that helped resurrect ST in the early 2000s, compiling data from players all over the world and making videos breaking down theories about the different versions of the game.

NKI Volume XII never breaks the game's system, instead using macros, save states and an emulator to capture oddities that might only be found in a single frame of the game's action. As such, NKI has also compiled a transcipt of every situation in the video, explaining to viewers what exactly is happening and how those states were achieved.

Readers can check out the video below, and find all of NKI's previous videos on Preppy's website.

First match footage of BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle released

Days before a playable demo of the title will be available at New York Comic Con, the first video of a match of BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle has been released to the public.

The footage shows many features that players have seen in Capcom's team games over the years: assists, being able to cancel one character's super move with another and the possibility of mixing up the opponent once you kill one of their characters.

What is new, however, is the Resonance Blaze, a mode that seems to unlock only once a player loses one of the two characters. It's not clear exactly what Resonance Blaze does, but upon activation the player begins to automatically gain meter at a fast rate and may gain other bonuses as well.

Players in the U.S. will have the chance to check out BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle at New York Comic Con on Oct. 5-8, 2017. Readers can check out the footage, originally courtesy of Rooster Teeth's Gray Haddock, after the jump.

Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite Ryu combos by FinalShowdown

Veteran combo maker and former competitive Guilty Gear player Clayton "FinalShowdown" Chapman has returned with a new solo exhibition for Ryu in MvCI.

The roughly five-minute video is focused solely on what Ryu can do by himself in MvCI: no stones, no tags. It turns out the so-called "regular guy" can do pretty solid damage without anyone's help.

As the video is called "part 1," it seems that Chapman will be putting out another video or videos in the future. Readers can check out his YouTube channel for some of his other combo videos and watch the Ryu one after the jump.

Character tutorials help teach the basics for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite

The official Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite YouTube channel has uploaded small introduction videos for each character in the new game.

The videos, which are all under four minutes long, give a quick overview of a character's moves and special abilities before offering one basic and one advanced combo for players to use in learning the fighter. The videos also offer a suggested Infinity Stone to use with the character as a way to help boost the hero or villain's strengths.

While these videos may be simplistic to legacy players of the Marvel vs. Capcom series, they could be a great help to players looking to play their first Versus game.

Soul Stone revives MvC memories, character gameplay footage debuts

The newest trailer for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite shows off the last Infinity Stone in action, along characters making their first appearance in the Gamescom 2017 build of MvCI.

Given that it is the Soul Stone, players rightly assumed that both abilities would revolve life bars. The surge ability steals life from the opposing player. According to Maximilian's breakdown of the stone, the ability is not restricted to red life.

The more interesting ability of the stone may bring back memories of the original Marvel vs. Capcom to longtime fans. The Infinity Storm mirrors MvC1's Duo Team Attack, where both characters are brought onto the screen simultaneously. Even better, if one of the player's characters has been defeated they are revived for the storm and stay alive after it has completed (getting roughly 20 percent health back). However, unlike the duo attack, players are limited by the amount of meter they had before activating the ability.

Both the trailer and Maximilian's breakdown also offer new gameplay footage for Jedah, Firebrand, Ghost Rider and Dormammu, who show off some new abilities in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. Readers can check them out after the jump.

Punishing Ling Xiaoyu's "firecracker" move in Tekken 7

A video by YouTube user David Pinhal shows every way that characters can punish one of Ling's more frustrating lows out of Art of Phoenix stance in Tekken 7.

Firecracker is the name given to Ling's move performed by sliding from right kick to left kick (notated as 4~3) while in Art of Phoenix stance. This move gives players a lot of problems because while they can often block it, Ling stays low to the ground causing many normal punishes to whiff. Players are often left getting nothing more than a simple crouching kick in return.

The three-minute video shows better punishes for every character and even labels each in terms of execution difficulty. It's another resource for players having a hard time against one of Tekken 7's strongest characters.

Readers can check out the video after the jump.

Maximilian shows off MvCI story mode stages in new gameplay footage

A five-minute video from Maximilian lets players get a look at more of the Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite story mode scenery in action.

First off, it seems like New Metro City has gotten a bit of a facelift since players first saw screens of it back in July: it is now more colorful, with scrolling marquees and busier feel with characters clashing in the background.

The other stage seems to combine the Darkstalkers world of Makai—complete with Aensland Castle appearing in the background—and Marvel's Dark Dimension.

Fighting in front of these backgrounds are Haggar, Nemesis, Dr. Strange, Thor, Strider and Morrigan. Maximilian also promises to talk more about the final, unrevealed stone soon, promising "it's exactly what you think it is, and way more." Readers can check out the video after the jump.

Classic Marvel combo exhibition by Izumojin and Magnetro

From 100 percent juggles to upside-down combos, assist abuse and even mini-Spiral, the exhibition is an interesting and sometimes humorous look at the ingenuity of imaginative players. Readers can check out the video below.

How to sidestep and defend properly in Tekken by JDCR

Photo by HatalyA new two-part guide by JDCR looks to bring more information about effective sidestepping to the general playerbase.

In part one of the series, JDCR talks mostly about the theory of sidestep and block: why players use it, when they use it and what difference it can make in a matchup. In the second video, JDCR uses example videos of his own play to show those thoughts put into practice.

Players can find the translated videos, as well as JDCR's previous two-part video on side-stepping, on the BattleFinger channel. They can also check out all four videos as part of a playlist after the jump.
