February update brings changes to Injustice 2

As part of the addition of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Injustice 2, the team at NetherRealm Studios has prepared a new patch to further tweak the game.

Along with some general adjustments to gameplay, like the addition of premier skin selection to tournament mode, there are character-specific changes to the DC brawler. Not every combatant will be affected by the patch, and some will only receive a small change. The big news, however, is that Catwoman and Supergirl are receiving nerfs, while characters such as Poison Ivy, Sub Zero, Raiden and Aquaman got various buffs.

Readers can find the full patch notes at the official WB Games website.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles kick shell in Injustice 2 on Feb. 13

NetherRealm Studios has unveiled gameplay footage and a release date for the next DLC characters coming to Injustice 2.

Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael will launch on Feb. 13 bringing four new styles of combat to the NRS fighter. While all turtles will have similar base moves and strings, each will bring his own flair to the attacks. All four turtles will also have individual character powers that reference their personalities: Leonardo has assists because he is the leader; Donatello uses gadgets; Michaelangelo fights with his trusty skateboard; and Raphael launches into an attacking frenzy by "getting hype."

As usual, players who own the Ultimate Edition of Injustice 2, Ultimate Pack or Fighter Pack 3 will have the turtles on release, and those looking to purchase them separately will have to wait.

Readers can check out the turtles' trailer after the jump, and for more a in-depth description of each turtle can also view the Injustice Watchtower stream archives as well.

Injustice Watchtower to show Enchantress gameplay on Jan. 5

The next DLC character coming to Injustice 2 will be shown off in the early days of 2018.

According to Ed Boon, an Injustice Watchtower stream showing gameplay of Enchantress will be broadcast on Jan. 5, 2018. Enchantress is the second entry from Fighter Pack 3, and if previous Watchtower streams are any indication the stream will spend time talking about her various normals, specials and even combo potential.

It also seems likely that NetherRealm Studios may given out the character's release date during the broadcast. Atom was Fighter Pack 3's first addition, joining Injustice 2 on Dec. 12, 2017.

The stream begins at 3 p.m. CST on the NetherRealm Twitch channel and will likely last roughly an hour.

Size matters: Atom comes to Injustice 2 on Dec. 12, 2017

NetherRealm Studios and WB Games have released the full gameplay trailer for the first part of Injustice 2's Character Pack 3.

Atom comes to DC's fighting franchise with gadgets and the ability to radically alter his size. As seen in the original teaser trailer, Atom's size-changing abilities give him great evasion and movement. He can slightly adjust his size to avoid projectiles, or shrink to the size of a speck to seemingly avoid all attacks. Atom also has the technological advantage, using a ray gun and different chemicals to assault opponents.

As with all other Injustice 2 trailers, it is uncertain which moves will be standard for Atom and which will be attached to gear. Readers can check out the trailer after the jump.

Justice League gear coming to Injustice 2

New customizations inspired by the upcoming DC Comics movie are joining Injustice 2.

Starting on Nov. 14, 2017, dedicated Multiverse events in the game will start giving players access to gear pieces reminiscent of the costumes worn by those characters in the Justice League film.

It is not known how much gear is being added for each Justice League character or how long the Multiverse events will run.

Some players are claming to have already found ways to access the gear as images of purported Justice League pieces are appearing online.

NetherRealm Studios has been largely quiet on the specific details for the upcoming events, only saying that the Multiverse events will coincide with the run-up to the release of Justice League on Nov. 17, 2017.

Injustice Watchtower raises a little hell with gameplay overview

During the Injustice Watchtower stream on Nov. 6, NetherRealm Studios revealed gameplay details for the next character joining Injustice 2 on Nov. 14, Hellboy.

Fans of past NRS characters like Jason and Doomsday will find something to enjoy in Hellboy, as the character features pieces of each. Hellboy has both ground and anti-air command grabs, a small zoning tool in his gun and a gap-closing attack in his dashing shoulder check. He also has a leap move that ends in a low attack but that can be cancelled into an air dash or into normal jumping moves to create a mixup.

Hellboy's trait offers him four temporary options: he can either increase his damage output, reduce damage taken, give himself armor or activate a charm that will resurrect him if he dies before the trait runs out.

Readers can check out more about Hellboy, including a detailed breakdown of his normals, from the stream archive after the jump. The Hellboy footage starts at roughly 36 minutes.

While the third character of Fighter Pack 2, Hellboy, has yet to be released, NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Games have announced another new character for Injustice 2: The Atom.

According to the teaser for the character, Atom's powers of altering his size will allow him to quickly manuever around opponents, sometimes in ways almost like a teleport.

Injustice 2 coming to PC?

NetherRealm Studios' newest fighter may not be a console-exclusive title for much longer.

According to VG24/7, listings for a PC version of the game have appeared on both Game Mania and Amazon France. While no news of a possible port has been publicly released, these European listings could be an indicator that the game is on the way.

Players have wanted a PC version of Injustice 2 despite NRS' checkered past with the platform. The first Injustice game and both Mortal Kombat 9 and X suffered from issues on PC, with MKX receiving especially harsh criticism. However, after several corrections and a netplay update fixed MKX, perhaps players are willing to give NRS the benefit of the doubt for Injustice 2.

Injustice Watchtower reveals legendary gear, Black Manta details

The Injustice Watchtower broadcast on Sept. 8 showed off both new gear coming to the game and also revealed the gameplay details of Black Manta.

First up, NetherRealm revealed legendary gear, which will grant special abilities to characters that equip it. Bane's legendary gear, for example, will allow him to never deal with venom debuff but instead venom will drain his health. This gear will be obtained completing different multiverse events that have steep requirements for players.

Next, NRS clarified gameplay details on Black Manta. Manta has several long-range normal attacks and plenty of special tools to deal with his opponents. He has a short-range projectile in his manta beams, but can deal with full-screen pressure using a harpoon gun. Manta also uses shoulder rockets to help him juggle opponents and has a teleport uppercut like the cyborg ninjas in Mortal Kombat to surprise opponents.

Black Manta's character power is his jetpack, which uses fuel by holding down the trait button. It can also be used in bursts to try and hover above the stage.

Manta will be the first character available as part of Fighter Pack 2 on Sept. 12.

The full Black Manta breakdown, along with announcements from NRS and questions from fans, can be found on the NetherRealm Twitch archives.

Hellboy, Raiden, Black Manta coming to Injustice 2

A trailer released during Gamescom 2017 showed the three characters coming to Injustice 2 as part of the game's second round of DLC, Fighter Pack 2.

As already expected, Black Manta will be making his Injustice debut as part of the new pack, and he will be joined by another character many players already suspected would be coming: Raiden. The big surprise, however, is that they will be joined by Hellboy.

Black Manta will be the first of the three to be released, and will be available in September 2017. Readers can check out the reveal teaser after the jump.
