Injustice Fighter Pack 2 announcement at Gamescom on Aug. 23

The next set of characters coming to Injustice 2 will be revealed during a charity competition at Germany's trade show.

The event will pit Steve Aoki against fellow DJ Don Diablo in an Injustice 2 exhibition with $5,000 going to the Aoki Foundation, which has a "primary goal of supporting organizations in the brain science and research areas with a specific focus on regenerative medicine and brain preservation" and also supports "disaster relief, developmental disabilities and animal rights."

The stream will also feature the unveiling of the characters in Fighter Pack 2, which will be making their way to Injustice 2 later this year. While one of them was likely revealed in July, there is still a bit of speculation regarding the other characters, including one that NetherRealm Studios Creative Director Ed Boon said will get "the biggest wow of any character in the game."

The whole event will be streamed on the NetherRealm Twitch channel live at 5 a.m. CDT (noon local time in Germany, 3 a.m. PDT).

Watchtower stream highlights upcoming changes to Injustice 2

During the Injustice Watchtower stream on July 25, NetherRealm Studios unveiled changes that will be coming to Injustice 2.

For starters, not every character will receive alterations in the upcoming patch: Darkseid, Cyborg, Joker, Green Lantern, Harley Quinn, Blue Beetle, Firestorm, Scarecrow and Sub-Zero have no changes.

Big tweaks, meanwhile, are coming to Aquaman, Black Adam and Brainiac as the former two will lose some combos oppotunities—MB Tentacle Strike no longer launches and non-MB Black Magic no longer allows for combos—while Brainiac's character power has been revised to allow him to hold his trait in the new update. Small improvements and nerfs have also come to a host of other characters including Black Canary and Wonder Woman, who both received frame advantage buffs to certain strings, and Atrocitus, whose use of Dex-Starr will now spend the character power meter faster.

Readers can check out the Twitch archives with all the changes and a simplified change list gleaned from the stream after the jump. NetherRealm did not offer a date on the release of the patch or the official patch notes at this time.

Starfire lights up Injustice 2 in new gameplay trailer, more reveals soon

The official trailer for Starfire has been released, showing players what to expect from the character when she releases sometime in August 2017.

Starfire looks to fight mostly at distance, using beams as most of her offensive special attacks. The trailer also shows her use a torpedo move, the ability to fly and a slow-moving energy orb that she can pop with other energy attacks.

In a quick cameo, the video also shows what looks to be a Bizarro skin for Superman, complete with fire breath instead of air breath.

During the All Access event that premiered the Starfire trailer, Ed Boon said that NetherRealm is currently working on the trailer for the next three characters that will debut "very soon," and that the last character will get "the biggest wow of any character in the game."

Readers can check out the Starfire trailer after the jump.

Special stream to reveal Injustice 2's Starfire coming July 21

The last Fighter Pack 1 character coming to Injustice 2 will be shown during a special presentation from San Diego Comic-Con 2017.

Starfire will be revealed during a special DC All Access stream with Ed Boon starting at 1 p.m. PDT on July 21, 2017. She is the final character in the first wave of DLC characters that started with Red Hood in June.

The news was first hinted at by Boon early in July, but the Injustice Twitter account confirmed it with a picture of Starfire and details of the upcoming stream.

Although Starfire will round out the first pack of DLC for Injustice 2, the June update to the title at first showed a total of nine additional character slots and Xbox recently confirmed that Black Manta will be one of those characters. It will be interesting to see if Boon reveals any details of fortcoming character packs during Comic-Con, or if for now Starfire is the only new information.

Black Manta revealed as Injustice 2 DLC character by Xbox ad

Although Injustice 2's June update left some players convinced they were going to be playing as one of Aquaman's classic villains in the future, Xbox Live has confirmed that Black Manta will be playable in the title.

A seemingly accidental ad on the Xbox Marketplace has revealed that players will be able to "Fight as Black Manta in Injustice 2" in the future.

The timing is confusing for Injustice fans, who haven't even received a trailer for the final character in Fighter Pack 1, Starfire, as this preview has made its appearance. That being said, NetherRealm's Ed Boon did allude to new information being unveiled at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con 2017, so it's possible some questions might be answered on July 20-23.

Theo joins the Echo Fox roster

Echo Fox has announced another high-profile signing from the NetherRealm community in the form of Theo.

The player formerly known as Emperor Theo was one of the strongest players on the West Coast for the original Injustice, dominating the title at Wednesday Night Fights, placing highly at major events and tying for seventh place at Evolution 2014.

While Theo took a hiatus during Mortal Kombat X, "he is back with a vengeance for Injustice 2," Echo Fox team manager Antonio Javier said in an announcement video. The new signee has already made his mark, placing fifth at CEO 2017 after putting tournament favorite and now-teammate Sonic Fox into losers.

Theo will join Scar and SonicFox as the third member of Echo Fox's Injustice team.

Sub-Zero will put Injustice 2 opponents on ice in July

During a Warner Bros. Games live presentation at E3 2017, Ed Boon and Tyler Lansdown of NetherRealm Studios presented the gameplay trailer for the next DLC character coming to Injustice 2.

Sub-Zero joins Injustice this July with several of his classic Mortal Kombat moves including ice blast, slide, ground freeze and even ice clone. However, the character trailer also showed off a jumping ground slam and the ability to shoot ice clones like projectiles both in the air and on the ground. Sub-Zero even can generate more than one ice clone at a time using his character power.

As always, it's hard to tell which moves will be standard for the character and which will be locked behind gear, but players will likely find out in the coming days and weeks. For now, readers can check out Sub-Zero's trailer after the jump.

Injustice 2's June update brings fixes, hints at upcoming DLC

Injustice 2's June update delivered more than fans were expecting when it went live on June 5.

In addition to fixing many bugs throughout the game and tweaking a few aspects of one or two characters, the game also temporarily changed the character select screen to reveal the silhouettes of all the upcoming downloadable characters before being reverted to its original appearance.

While not all of the DLC fighters could be identified, two distinct head shapes seem to indicate the inclusion of both Black Manta and Raiden to the game and a tiny fighter who did not even fit the whole character portrait looks to be The Atom.

While Red Hood is not part of the June update, the official Injustice 2 Twitter account assures fans that more news is coming soon. Readers who want to speculate on the upcoming fighters can check out a screenshot of the altered character select after the jump.

Mr. Freeze, Vixen, Jay Garrick, Grid join Injustice 2 as premier skins

Four more DC characters have been unearthed as part of the Injustice 2 roster thanks to premier skins.

Mr. Freeze, Vixen, Jay Garrick and Grid have all been discovered in the game's assets by players who already have a copy in their hands. While players knew about Reverse Flash, John Stewart and Power Girl because of the game's Ultimate Edition, these skins leave fans wondering how many more characters will be added to the game strictly in the form of skins.

Some images of the characters have been taken down on sites including Twitter and Test Your Might, but Shoryuken still has pictures up at this time.

Injustice 2's Ultimate Edition will cost players roughly $100 and goes on sale with the other editions of the game on May 16, 2017. While it is assumed that much of this content will be available separately, nothing has been confirmed at this time.

Sub-Zero, Starfire, Red Hood are Injustice 2's first three DLC fighters

Injustice 2 DLC news 'coming soon,' Ed Boon dropping hints?

Players will soon get info on Injustice 2's upcoming downloadable content, and it's possible Ed Boon is already alluding to details about it.

Boon, creator of Mortal Kombat and a creative director at NetherRealm Studios, loves to make hints about upcoming content or surprises in his tweets and has created anticipation for news about the Injustice DLC with a tweet on May 2:

For those wondering or asking... Injustice 2 DLC info coming soon. We suspect you will like what you hear!

The tweet is accompanied by a image of late night talk show host Conan O'Brien and his co-host Andy Richter. Is Boon hinting at an addition of Conan the Barbarian, or possibly fellow redhead Starfire? Is he just messing with his fanbase? For now, it's too hard to tell.
