Update: Added changes listed at the UMvC3 EVO panel in quotes below. Some were very vague, possibly due to translation issues.
Throughout San Diego Comic Con, players have been reporting changes from MvC3 to the initial playable build of UMvC3. Keep in mind that many of the details are from players' initial impressions and may not be 100% accurate, and since the game doesn't release for some time, all of this is subject to change.
We'll maintain an updated list of reported changes below:
System Changes
- DHC glitch removed
- Exchange glitch removed
- X-Factor gives less of a damage boost
- X-Factor doesn't last as long
- Successful sideways aerial exchange removes 1 meter from opponent
- Magic pixel gone from lifebars
- "Every character gains a move that can be mashed for more damage"
Character-Specific Changes
Akuma
- Tatsu assist no longer knocks down
- Demon flip OTG, relaunch may be more difficult
- X-Factor QCB+A infinite removed
- "Has less health"
Amaterasu
- Cold star faster when on point
- Gets a speed bonus in X-Factor
- "Can change weapons in mid-air"
- "Has more health"
- j.S drops him downward more quickly for easier OTG after air combo
C. Viper
- Has a new, Optic Blast-like move
Captain America
- "Has a double-jump"
Chris
- "Can cancel into specials from his command-normals"
Chun-Li
- Seems to do more damage
- "Has a new version of Spinning Bird Kick, similar to an EX SBK"
Dante
- Seems to have slower normals
- Seems to be more prone to hitstun decay
- Million Dollars has more recovery
- "Gains triple-jump / 2x airdash in Devil Trigger mode"
Deadpool
- "Can cancel specials with his teleport"
- Guns seem faster
Dormammu
- Flame carpet pushes opponent back on hit
- Flame carpet disappears when he Dormammu gets hit
- "Can perform Dark Hole and Liberation in air" [Possibly able to move after air Dark Hole?]
Dr. Doom
- Maybe faster overall
- Air S moves faster vertically
- Air S causes groundbounce on juggle
- Forward throw is a hard knockdown
- j.C laser is faster
- "Doom Time and Photon Array mashable"
- "All jumping specials knock down"
Felicia
- "Can perform Delta Kick in air"
Haggar
- Lariat assist no longer gets hard knock down
- "c.H knocks down"
Hsien Ko
- Seems faster
- Seems to do more damage
- "Has more items to throw via Anki Hou"
Hulk
- "Has a new charge move" [as in Gamma Charge? or B,F/D,U?]
Iron Man
- Triangle jumps are slower
- "Doesn't have a double-jump"
- "Can air-dash cancel air attacks"
Magneto
- New Move: RDP+A = Attraction, pulls opponent towards him
- New Move: RDP+B = Repulsion, pushes opponent away
- New Move: RDP+C = Gravitation, pulls opponent in air downwards
- Triangle jumps are slower
- Disruptor slower
MODOK
- "Jumping attacks are air-dash cancelable"
Morrigan
- Seems to do more damage
- "New Move: QCF+S, fireball that drains opponent's hyper meter"
Phoenix
- Only allowed one action per jump
- "Has less health"
- New Power-up hyper: D,D+PP
- Gives his specials and hypers new properties
- Hadouken gains tons of projectile durability
- Power-up remains on his assists when he's tagged out
- Powered-up Shinkuu Hadoken can reflect off of walls
- Chargeable shoryuken and hadouken (QCF or DP+Hold S)
- Fully-charged hadouken travels full-screen instantly/invisibly
- Fully-charged hadouken causes wallbounce
- Can be performed in air
- F+B overhead now special-cancelable
Sentinel
- On OTG Rocket Punch into Hyper Sentinel Force, opponent flips out and can block
- "Has slightly less health"
She-Hulk
- D+C Slide decreased in range
- "New Move": RDP+A/B/C, smacks opponent with stop sign, wallbounces
Shuma-Gorath
- "Regular throw siphons super meter from opponent"
Spencer
- New air downward smash move that OTGs, can be comboed after
Spider-Man
- "Webs travel faster"
- "Web Ball, Web Swing, Spider Sting can be canceled into other web-based moves"
- "Crawler Assault can be mashed for more damage"
Storm
- New Move: DP+S = Fair Wind, pushes opponent away
- New Move: RDP+S = Foul Wind, pulls opponent towards her
Super Skrull
- "Can perform meteor smash from the air"
Taskmaster
- New move: Charge Sting, a stab-grab move
- Vertical shot travels same distance horizontally as QCF+M+H
Thor
- "More range on mid-air command grab"
Trish
- Seems to have less recovery on most specials
- "Air Max Voltage can be followed-up"
Tron
- "Gustaff Fire assist loses invincibility"
- "Gains 3x servbot launcher using motion + L~M~H"
Viewtiful Joe
- "Has a dodge move" like Slow mode from his games (or V-ism Cody)
Wesker
- Teleports seem slower
- Air throw sends opponent further away
- "Wesker gains speed with damage from [to?] his sunglasses"
Wolverine
- Berserker slash is slower and less invincible
- Seems to have less health
- "New move: Swiss Cheese, a close-range multi-stab"
X-23
- Ankle Slice OTG timing seems more lenient
- "Mid-air Talon Attack cancels other characters' air moves"
Zero
- Level 3 charged buster causes soft knockdown
- "Can cancel specials into buster"
New Characters
Firebrand
- Divekick with D+C
- QCF+A/B for fireball, can create a moving flame upon hitting the ground
- QCF+C for Bon Voyage swoop attack
- DP+A/B/C = Demon Missile, like a psycho crusher done at various angles
- QCF+S far-moving, comboable command grab that can be done in air, can wallbounce
- Luminous Body Hyper gives some sort of boost. Armor? Damage?
- Level 3 summons a demon/clone that remains in flight and follows Firebrand, can be made to attack like Felicia's Kitty Helper
- Press A: Fireball
- Press B: Demon Missile
- Press C: Bon Voyage
Ghost Rider
- Somewhat slow with ranged normals, ala Dhalsim
- Has special and hyper OTG options
- Level 3 is a grab
- Some normals do chip damage
Hawkeye
- Has around 16 variations of arrow shots
- Poison arrow
- Net arrow
- Freeze shot
- Piercing arrow
- Can fire volleys of up to three arrows at once, like Taskmaster
- Level 3 features a cameo by Ant-Man
Strider
- Plays somewhat like his MvC1 incarnation
- Air dives (Excalibur) are better, can be comboed after
- Summon satellite with QCB+S
- Satellite bomb OTGs
- Ouroboros is Level 3, does a ton of damage, disappears on tag-out
- Ragnarok (another Level 3 hyper) does a ton of damage
- Teleport kick (Vajra) is good. Tracks to any height. Hard knockdown on juggle.
- M/H long slash (Gram) wallbounce, L Gram knocks down
- Wall cling faster. Off-wall kick is overhead and gets ground bounce on juggle.
- Wall cling to opposite side is QCF+S
- j.L can hit as instant overhead
- Strider has momentum, slippery feet, on his dash
Bosses
Galactus
- Remains the biggest boss that you've seen thus far.
