Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 unofficially joins Evolution 2017

After a heated donation drive that lead to more than $150,000 given to charity, UMvC3 emerged the victor and will be added to the Evolution 2017 lineup barring donation fraud.

This will be the game's seventh year at Evo, and the game has already been won by many of the giants who have dominated it at various times over the years.

As Joey "Mr. Wizard" Cuellar noted during the Evo lineup reveal, UMvC3 will be given a guaranteed $10,000 prize pot and will be the first game played on the main stage for Sunday finals.

As a final nod to the efforts of the Pokkén Tournament community, Evo has pledged to give $10,000 in support to the game's competitions during the course of 2017.

UMvC3 wider digital release, physical copies coming March 7

Capcom will be extending its digital release of Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 to other modern platforms and offering a limited physical release of the game starting on March 7, 2017.

According to a post on Capcom Unity, the game's promised PC and Xbox One ports will be offered at the same price as the PlayStation 4 version of the game, $24.99. In addition, the rumors of a new physical edition of the game were indeed true as Gamestop (and its family of stores including EB Games) will offer a limited release of the game complete with never cover art and a comic detailing the game's story.

This physical version of the game will be exclusive to Gamestop and will only be available for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles at the price of $29.99.

New physical release of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 on the way?

The digital release of UMvC3 may be getting some company in several months.

The Gamestop website has listings for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of UMvC3, physical copies that would cost consumers slightly more than the download at $29.99. Even more interesting is that the site claims the games will be available "only at Gamestop."

While nothing has been officially announced by Capcom at this time, Gamestop's projected release of March 31, 2017, would put it in the window announced for the Xbox One and PC releases of the title. Hopefully Capcom will clarify this information soon.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 now available for PS4

After disappearing from online distribution three years ago, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is back for download.

First released in 2011, UMvC3 was an updated version of Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds that made teams like MorriDoom and Zero May Cry into familiar names among competitive players.

UMvC3 returns with all downloadable content, including Shuma-Gorath and Jill Valentine, for the price of $24.99. The title is currently available for PlayStation 4 and will be coming to Xbox One and PC sometime in March 2017. Check out the trailer after the jump.

New video shows possible evolution of Firebrand team

BabaGhan0ush and Snake Tits have recorded a video showing what they believe to be the final evolution of the Firebrand team in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

Teaming with Morrigan and Iron Man, the team can always build enough meter to continue the capture loop until the entire opposing team is dead.

While some players have already questioned the team's viability due to its use of characters seen as weak in neutral and without great ability to open up an opposing player, Snake Tits says the team is only in its development stages at the present time.

NorCal Regionals 2016 Announced, March 25-27 at Sacramento, CA

NorCal Regionals is heading back to the California capital of Sacramento for 2016.

This will be the third consecutive entry that NCR will be at the Holiday Inn Sacramento Capitol Plaza. From March 25-27, the Northern California major will host Street Fighter V, Ultra Street Fighter IV, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- and Mortal Kombat X. SFV is part of the Capcom Pro Tour as a Premier Event.

While the aforementioned games are part of the main list, players can also participate in the Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Dead or Alive 5 Last Round and Killer Instinct community tournaments.

Registration for NCR 2016 is live with different packages. If you are planning to register, there are multiple options with various benefits including the weekend-long After Hours Room. If you are looking to stay at the Holiday Inn, it's priced at $99 a night.

Evolution 2016 lineup announced, coming to Las Vegas Convention Center & Mandalay Bay

In a sitdown interview on Red Bull eSports, Joey "Mr. Wizard" Cuellar revealed the games that will be part of Evo 2016 as well as its location.

The Evolution staff is putting on nine games for the competitive fighting game community. You can expect Street Fighter V, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-, Mortal Kombat X, Pokkén Tournament, Killer Instinct, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Tekken 7: Fated Retribution.

A majority of Evolution will be at the Las Vegas' own convention center for Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, the finals day will come to the Mandalay Bay Events Center. The hotel is set for the Westgate Hotel. Stay tuned for information on tickets.

Other information revealed includes the return of the Indie Games area. Brook's Super Converters will be allowed but can be banned if any future issues affect them.

KVO 2014 Announced, Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, Aquapazza & Both Super Smash Bros. Melee/Brawl Featured

The next edition of the Japanese Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 tournament is coming!

KVO organizer Kyamei announced that the dedicated Marvel tournament will take place in March 2014. Along with UMVC3 as the main game, Kyamei also announced that Aquapazza, Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. Melee will be there as side tournaments.

No other information behind the event have been announced, but stay tuned to KVO's official site and Kyamei on Twitter for updates on the event!

Marvelous Customs Grand Opening Tournament On January 25 At Fairfield, CA

The guys at Marvelous Customs now have a new workshop and they will be celebrating their grand opening with a tournament!

MC will be having a grand opening event featuring Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition Ver. 2012, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and BlazBlue: Chronophantasma as their tournament games. There will also be food, music and prizes so come by!

Capcom Cup: Street Fighter X Tekken Tournament Fully Archived By Capcom Fighters

For those who missed Street Fighter X Tekken at Capcom Cup can now watch all of the matches in full!

This tournament brought four SFXT tournament players with four others who qualified from the online tournament. Players including Infiltration, Justin Wong, Sethlolol and Tampa Bison fight it out to see who is best!

The Id Global Tournament by Cafeid will take place in the Hyatt Regency hotel in Jeju Province on Mar. 29 - 30, 2014. The entry fee is priced at $100 with $20 per game.
