Digital Foundry checks out graphical power of Tekken 7 & its predecessors

The go-to people for graphics analysis at Digital Foundry got the chance to show off how each version of Tekken 7 is running and made a visual retrospective of the series.

DF's Thomas Morgan explains in detail how the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro and PC differ. This includes variances in resolution, post-processing effects and load times. A full text analysis, with screenshot comparisons, can be found here.

Dave Bierton talks about the evolution of the series and the hardware that powers each game. While Tekken has been a multiplatform series in recent entries, it has been one of the franchises that grew alongside Sony's PlayStation line of consoles before that shift. This growth starts all the way back at the original Tekken for the first PS system and the similar Namco System 11 arcade hardware.

Videos for the Tekken 7 graphical analysis and the series/tech evolution can be found after the jump!

SDCC 2014: New Tekken 7 Information From Bandai Namco Games Panel, Tekken X Street Fighter Still In Development

Concept art for Tekken X Street FighterHere is new information from the Bandai Namco fighting games panel at San Diego Comic Con 2014 featuring the upcoming Tekken 7.

It was announced that T7 will conclude the story arc of the Mishima bloodline. The game will answer questions regarding the actions of Heihachi Mishima in previous Tekken entries.

With no gameplay footage to present, Tekken series producer Katsuhiro Harada has mentioned that the development team is working and refining the mechanics. Aside from Heihachi and Kazuya returning in Tekken 7, Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion's Lars will return.

Other information like native voice acting featured in Tekken Tag Tournament 2 returns. Namco is also looking to help newer players for getting into competitive Tekken.

Lastly, after no word on the project for quite some time, Harada declared that Tekken X Street Fighter is still in development and moving forward. Harada also mentioned that the title needs its own spotlight outside of the other games in production. No footage of TXSF was featured at the panel.

Second Strongstyle 5 Trailer Released

Norcal Strongstyle has released its second trailer, giving participants a better idea of what to expect at the event when it occurs on September 27-28, 2014, in San Mateo, California.

The biggest news from the trailer is that the format of pools at Strongstyle will be a 2-out-of-3, round robin format, with semifinals and top 8 being the normal 3-out-of-5 format. This decision changes preparation for the tournament tremendously, as now players will have to be prepared for a lot of sets with a potential for a large number of opposing characters.

Other news from the trailer includes a list of newly confirmed players who will attend the event, as well as Bronson Tran's rationale for there being no stream at Strongstyle. According to Tran, every match at SS5 will be recorded and the event will then be released later in a "high production package" that will feature commentary, match breakdowns and player interviews that go inside the match and explain to the viewers how it all happened.

Hit the jump for the trailer.
