Winter Steam Sale brings discounts to many fighters

The annual Winter Steam Sale has arrived, bringing big discounts to many fighting games offered through the platform.

Arc System Works has cut prices on many titles including Arcana Heart 3 LOVE MAX!!!!!, Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code, Battle Fantasia and older versions of the Under Night, Guilty Gear and BlazBlue series.

SNK is once again offering low prices for King of Fighters XIII, 2002 Unlimited Match and '98 Ultimate Match Final Edition, as well as The Last Blade 2.

Lastly, there are also sizable discounts for Street Fighter V, Mortal Kombat XL, Skullgirls, Blade Arcus, Koihime Enbu and many other titles. Sadly, it seems recently released titles such as Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator- and Garou: Mark of the Wolves are not included in this year's sale. SNK Playmore Offering KOF Triple Pack on Steam

SNK Playmore has just announced a way for Steam users to pick up King of Fighters XIII, King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match Final Edition and King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match all for one price. 

The King of Fighters Triple Pack will include all three titles bundled together for $34.99. While each of the games had been offered with various discounts in the past, this is a chance for players who were waiting to pick up all three KOF games at one time.

UPDATE: SNKP has said the Triple Pack will be "50% OFF during Steam's 48 hours limited sale from April 9th 10am PST!" 

KOFXIII: Cafe id's 2nd "We Love KOF" Tournament Tonight

Korea's fighting game hang out and group Cafe id will soon begin their second tournament dedicated to The King of Fighters XIII!

Also known as "We Love KOF," this tourney will likely bring many of the top players from the region including Lacid, 1st Man, Kensouzzang, and even MAD KOF! The tournament is scheduled for 3:00PM, 11:00PM PST and 2:00AM EST for North American viewers.

KOFXIII: Videos From Korea Vs. Japan Event

Four of Korea's best KOF players went to Japan to play in a Korea v Japan event, which didn't actually happen, so they ended up doing a 4v20 which is one of the best KOF XIII events to date. Plenty of amazing matches and tons to learn. Check them out on Emilll's channel.

KOF: Interview With Japanese Player Dune

The King of Fighters community member NeoPenny got the chance to interview Japanese player Dune about his local KOF scene in Yokohama.

KoFXIII: Tokido and Oogosho casual footage from KCE Cup

e.LivePro Dune has uploaded some sets between MCZ Tokido and eLivePro Oogosho from the KoF Crazy Encyclopedia Cup, more commonly abbreviated to KCE, held a few days ago at Playland Carnival in Shinjuku, Japan.

AFTERSHOCK - KOFXIII NorCal Team

For those of you who didn't catch KOFCast this past Monday, the NorCal team for AfterShock, a SoCal v NorCal invitational, was announced. The players include El Gallo Negro, Fixel, Pain, BBZ and hellpckets. The best of the best from NorCal, including two top-32 placers at Evo.

KOFXIII: Cafe ID Casual Session With Mad KOF vs Guts

This almost three hour long session has the champ go against fellow Cafe ID partner and EVO KOF top 8 contender Guts in various matches. Each played a variety of the characters including trying their best preferred fighters.

Mad regularly uploads casual sessions from Cafe ID as well as show off some online play on his YouTube channel and Twitter!

KOFXIII Climax: Character Ratio Anticipation Matches At Shinjuku Playland Carnival

Remember that post Haunts made regarding a special KOFXIII Climax tourney based on character ratio? Well the arcade Shinjuku Playland Carnival in Tokyo, Japan did a set of casual matches to help build up for the actual tournament on June 23.

The rules are that each player have a total amount of six points they can spend on with each character categorized from either 0-5. Nobody by any means can exceed the six point limit and if someone was playing a team with Mr. Karate for example (5 point), the player can use a 1 point character and/or a 0 point character.

You can check out the preview event as well as the ratio count for every character in the game after the jump! The video seems to get some delay as time progresses but the matches nonetheless should show various teams.

The King of Fighters i Trading Cards Featuring XIII Cast And... Geese Howard?!

SNK Playmore updated mobile game The King of Fighters i with the addition of new trading cards that show off chibi art and character sprites in The King of Fighters XIII. If you check out some of the images, you can see some stuff that didn't appear in XII or XIII.

Geese Howard, Heidern, Whip, Oswald and even Shingo are featured sprites in this collection. All of the iterations of Athena are also featured in a collage. Some of you guys might be wondering why were they not playable in the recent games. IPLAYWINNER's own Sparkster mentioned that the sprites were used during both XII and XIII's development to test out their new sprite method.

If SNK Playmore ever wants to update XIII or have the unused sprites in XIV, it would be awesome. What do you guys think?

If you've been on the fence about King of Fighters XIII, this may help tip you toward making the jump!  Amazon now has the game priced at $29.99!  The general consensus seems to be that this is a great game with tons of content (although there are always haters for any series).  Be sure to check out IPW's youtube channel for plenty of KOFXIII vids.  Go Go Go!
