Winter Steam Sale brings discounts to many fighters

The annual Winter Steam Sale has arrived, bringing big discounts to many fighting games offered through the platform.

Arc System Works has cut prices on many titles including Arcana Heart 3 LOVE MAX!!!!!, Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code, Battle Fantasia and older versions of the Under Night, Guilty Gear and BlazBlue series.

SNK is once again offering low prices for King of Fighters XIII, 2002 Unlimited Match and '98 Ultimate Match Final Edition, as well as The Last Blade 2.

Lastly, there are also sizable discounts for Street Fighter V, Mortal Kombat XL, Skullgirls, Blade Arcus, Koihime Enbu and many other titles. Sadly, it seems recently released titles such as Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator- and Garou: Mark of the Wolves are not included in this year's sale. SNK games discounted as part of Steam Autumn Sale

The Last Blade, The King of Fighters XIII, KOF 2002 Unlimited Match and KOF '98 Ultimate Match Final Edition are currently on sale on the Steam platform.

Players can buy the King of Fighters Triple Pack, containing all three titles, for $17.49, 50 percent off its normal price. The individual games are also on sale, with KOF XIII discounted to $9.99 and KOF 2002 UM and KOF '98 UMFE at $7.49 each. The Last Blade is $4.99.

Other titles on sale include Twinkle Star Sprites, Baseball Stars 2 and games from the Metal Slug series. Interested players have until Nov. 29, 2016, to pick up the titles as these discounted prices.

King of Fighters titles heavily discounted on Steam

The King of Fighters XIII, KOF 2002 Unlimited Match and KOF '98 Ultimate Match Final Edition are currently on sale on the Steam platform.

Players can buy the King of Fighters Triple Pack, containing all three titles, for $10.49, 70 percent off its normal price. The individual games are also on sale, with KOF XIII discounted to $4.99 and KOF 2002 UM and KOF '98 UMFE at $2.99 each. 

Interested players have until July 4, 2016, to pick up the titles as these discounted prices.

France's Gaming Live checks out KOFXIV, coming to Europe on Aug. 26, 2016 by Deep Silver

If you need more footage of The King of Fighters XIV, make sure to check out the hour-and-a-half-long presentation from France.

French gaming production company Gaming Live had the chance to show off the game before its appearance at this year's Stunfest tournament. Commentator Ken Bogard was joined by KOF players Frionel, Piccolo and Mrquaraté in demonstrating some of the new characters and the game-specific mechanics. With these players, matches are aplenty.

If you are not going to Stunfest this weekend, the KOFXIV stream will be handled by Frionel. More information can be found here.

In a press release by publisher Deep Silver, KOFXIV will be available in Europe on Aug. 26, 2016, close to that of the Asian and North American releases. Players can soon preorder a day-one-only steel case as well as the classic Kyo outfit DLC. The physical and digital versions of KOFXIV will be priced at €59.99 in most of Europe and £49.99 in the United Kingdom.

Anime Weekend Sale on Steam discounts various fighting games including Koihime Enbu preorder

Steam's latest weekend promotion for April 28-May 2 is all about anime-centric games with some fighting games joining the batch.

As the name suggests, the Anime Weekend Sale allows people to buy various themed games, including fighters, for a lower price. On SNK Playmore's side, The King of Fighters XIII, The King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match Final Edition and The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match are discounted. Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- and Battle Fantasia are some of the featured from Arc System Works. The recently released Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code is not part of the sale. Other fighters include Dead or Alive 5 Last Round and Yatagarasu: Attack on Cataclysm.

While planned for release on May 19, 2016, Unknown Games' Koihime Enbu joined the sale with a limited preorder price of $31.99. It includes both the game and the soundtrack in the package.

Using Steam's tag system, make sure to check out the list featuring fighting games now on sale. The sale ends on May 2 at 10 p.m. PDT.

Battle Royale II, KOF Dream Cancel Cup Event, at Next Level on Nov. 14

New York will be preparing for a high stakes tournament for The King of Fighters series next month as part of the Dream Cancel Cup.

Battle Royale II will take place in Next Level Arcade and will feature The King of Fighters XIII, The King of Fighters '98 and '98 Ultimate Match as well as The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match. The high stakes portion of this Nov. 14 tournament will be KOFXIII, which has a $25 entry fee. The other games will be priced at $5 each.

Top 16 of the KOFXIII tournament will be given points as part of the Journey to Dream Cancel Cup with the winner will be automatically qualified for the finals at Colorado's Winter Showdown 3. Top 8 will be paid with an additional $500 bonus.

Team Spooky's Sabin and Team KickPunchBlock will be involved in streaming the event on their respective channels. Check out the official Dream Cancel thread and the Facebook event page for more information.

SNK Playmore Offering KOF Triple Pack on Steam

SNK Playmore has just announced a way for Steam users to pick up King of Fighters XIII, King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match Final Edition and King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match all for one price. 

The King of Fighters Triple Pack will include all three titles bundled together for $34.99. While each of the games had been offered with various discounts in the past, this is a chance for players who were waiting to pick up all three KOF games at one time.

UPDATE: SNKP has said the Triple Pack will be "50% OFF during Steam's 48 hours limited sale from April 9th 10am PST!" 

Dream Cancel Cup Tournament Circuit Announced

Organizers at SNK-centric forum Dream Cancel have announced a tournament series designed to bring together the best players in their scene. The Dream Cancel Cup Tournament Circuit Series will involve certified events across the U.S., giving players ranking points that will earn them invitations to the first Dream Cancel Cup, taking place at Winter Showdown 3 in Colordao in 2016.

All events including the final will be open entry, but ranking points will determine which players earn "invitations" to the Dream Cancel Cup, a tournament featuring King of Fighters XIII, King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match Final Edition and King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match. It is not known at this time if the invitations will grant any special benefits to the players.

In addition to normal certified tournaments, there will also be other ways for players to earn ranking points in the tournament series, including online events and even local tournaments that have been verified by Dream Cancel staff. KOF 2002 UM for Steam Releases Feb. 27, Pre-Purchase Discount

After several months of delay, the King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match is finally releasing on steam. According to the Steam website, KOF 2002 UM will be releasing on Feb. 27, 2015. This comes after the game was originally scheduled for a December 2014 release.

For those who purchase the game before release, a 20 percent discount is being offered. Normally buying KOF 2002 UM would cost $14.99, but for now the game will cost $11.99.

KOF 2002 Unlimited Match Coming Back to PlayStation?

Siliconera is reporting that King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match will likely be showing up on a PlayStation console in the near future. Citing a Korean Rating Board listing, the site says that the game has Sony Computer Entertainment Korea as a publisher.

It is uncertain, however, what this means for 2k2UM. The version that comes out for PlayStation is likely to be—like KOF '98 UM and Samurai Showdown VI—a PlayStation Classics release of the game if history is any indication. PS Classics are emulated versions of the Playstation and PlayStation 2 releases of titles, and have always included plenty of lag rendering them unplayable to competitors.

It is possible, though, that this could be a new version of the game to coincide with the forthcoming Steam release of 2k2UM. For now, details are too scarce to make a conclusion one way or the other.

KOF 98, 2002UM, 2002 & XI Match Videos from Dueling the KOF 13th Season

KOF is here again with Japan's newest addition of their tournament series.

Dueling the KOF 13th Season was at Kyoto's Neo Amusement Space A-CHO game center. The tournament featured held The King of Fighters '98, 2002 Unlimited Match and XIII. A-CHO's YouTube channel uploaded some of the tournament matches from 98 and 2002 so stay tuned for more of those and XIII matches.

On A-CHO's other channel, they uploaded tournament videos from their pre-Dueling the KOF event. Different from the main event, Duel x A-CHO featured both The King of Fighters XI and the original version of The King of Fighters 2002.

KOF 98 UM Final Edition and 2002 Unlimited Match for Steam Delayed

As mentioned on Super Desperation Radio, the upcoming Steam versions of King of Fighters 98 Ultimate Match Final Edition and 2002 Unlimited Match have been delayed.

While previously the two games were scheduled to launch before the beginning of 2015, with 98 in November and 2002 in December, the two titles are now only scheduled for sometime in the winter.

There are still no details about pricing or available features for either title.

KOF 98 UM Final Edition and 2002 Unlimited Match Coming to Steam

Japanese site Gamer has published a list of upcoming titles from SNK Playmore. While there are several other titles to note, including releases of Metal Slugs X and 3, the big two titles that will interest fighting gamers are The King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match Final Edition and The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match on Steam. While KOF 2K2 UM has previously been released in the U.S., this will be the first time that KOF 98 UMFE is available stateside.

These releases will both come during the holiday season, with 98 UMFE dropping sometime in November and 2K2 UM coming sometime during December. No other details, such as those concerning online play, are available at this time.

KOF2002UM: Combo DVD Extended Directors Cut Has it All

ReXXXSoprano uploaded one hell of a KOF2002UM video with it being 40 minutes of bread and butter combos for what appears to be every character in the game, not to mention a ton of wacky situational combos later on. For those of you just getting into the series with KOFXIII, this is a much watch as you'll get to see the similarities and differences between many of the characters in these previous games. KOF2002UM: Mind Blowing Combos and Glitches Video

With all the hype surrounding KOFXIII lately it's easy to forget about all the other KOF games that have come and gone over the years but this latest combo video from Majijam shows that there is still plenty of life left in these old favorites. Most of the stuff in this video is absolutely insane and even if you're like me and not an expert at 2002UM you'll still be able to appreciate the work that went into this.
