The Last Blade 2 Coming to PlayStation 4, Vita with Online Play

During PlayStation Experience, SNK Playmore announced that it will be releasing the weapon-based fighter The Last Blade 2 for both PS4 and Vita platforms.

Now, Sony's Lead Technical Producer for Third Party Productions John Sanders has confirmed that the game will indeed have online multiplayer:

Since a lot of folks have been asking - YES, The Last Blade 2 will have online and will also be PSTV compatible!

This is great news for fans of the late '90s SNK fighter, and while SNK Playmore has not had the best record with online play hopefully developer Code Mystics can create a good experience for players.

There is no timeframe for LB2's release at this time.

Second King of Fighters XIV Teaser Trailer Released

The second trailer for SNK Playmore's King of Fighters XIV has made its way online and while it reveals some new information about the game, it will probably do little to calm possible fears about the game's visuals.

The trailer, which only lasts 30 seconds, shows what appears to be in-game footage of Kyo, Iori and returning KOF characters Chang and Leona.

The footage, however, also bears no HUD or interface for the game, making it look like the title is still a work in progress. Check out the teaser after the jump.

SNK Playmore Refocusing Business, Leaving Pachinko Behind

SNK Playmore has announced it will no longer be making pachislot machines, and is instead refocusing its business on game development and IP management.

In an official press release, SNKP said that moving forward the company will focus on mobile games and consumer games, mentioning Metal Slug Defense and the upcoming King of Fighters XIV as examples of each.

The company also said it holds globally recognized brands like Samurai Showdown, King of Fighters and Metal Slug, and will do more to monetize those brands going forward.

While this news certainly does not mean that fans should expect a torrent of new console titles in development from SNKP, this move will definitely give some players hope that the company is listening to its fans.

Dream Cancel Cup Tournament Circuit Announced

Organizers at SNK-centric forum Dream Cancel have announced a tournament series designed to bring together the best players in their scene. The Dream Cancel Cup Tournament Circuit Series will involve certified events across the U.S., giving players ranking points that will earn them invitations to the first Dream Cancel Cup, taking place at Winter Showdown 3 in Colordao in 2016.

All events including the final will be open entry, but ranking points will determine which players earn "invitations" to the Dream Cancel Cup, a tournament featuring King of Fighters XIII, King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match Final Edition and King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match. It is not known at this time if the invitations will grant any special benefits to the players.
