Big Two 45 Results and Summary

There was a changing of the guard at Next Level Arcade as there were new champions in three out of the four tournaments at last night's Big Two.

It's been a while, but Empire Arcadia's Sanford Kelly did not make it to winners finals or even grand finals of AE2012 for the first time in months. He was sent to losers by Fingercramp Chris G's Sakura and eliminated by his teammate Kreymore's Guy. Although Chris G. sent Sanford to losers, the player who would take the tournament was another Empire member, Hiro. Known for his solid, defensive M. Bison, Hiro took out Team Spooky's Sabin then beat Chris G. twice to take the championship.

The turnout proved to be fairly competitive for Tekken Tag Tournament 2 with Brian H. and Devil Himself showing up. Even though we would see a familiar grand finals between Bloodhawk and Dominion Method Gaming's FightingGM, the results were drastically different from last week's Big Two. This time FightingGM swept Bloodhawk 3-0, making him Big Two's second Tekken Tag Tournament 2 champion.

Unfortunately, Persona 4 Arena wasn't streamed but thankfully the matches were recorded by someone at the tournament. I'll give you guys an update when those videos are up and ready. In the meantime, you'll be surprised to hear that Green Tea defeated Lord Knight in another Mitsuru mirror to win his second Persona tournament at Next Level. After Lord Knight sent him to losers, Green Tea made it back to grand finals to take the first series against Lord Knight in a tense 3-2 set, and apparently it only became easier for him as he took down Lord Knight 3-0 in the runback.

Chris G. won Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. RayRay took 2nd. Welcome to New York Marvel.

The videos are currently being uploaded to the Team Spooky YouTube channel starting with Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

Follow the jump for the full results and I'll see you guys next week!

Team Spooky Presents Big Two - Live From Next Level!

Hey everyone. This is Min from Team Spooky and I recently became a regular contributor to IPLAYWINNER. Some of you may know me as a Street Fighter player, but I'm also the guy running Big Two and a few other tournaments while Spooky streams them.

For those of you who are new to Big Two, it's a weekly event at Next Level Arcade in Brooklyn, New York. There are several tournaments run there, most notably for games like Super Street Fighter IV Aracde Edition Ver. 2012 and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but occasionally we change the line up to include newer titles such as Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Persona 4 Arena, and anything else that might be released in the future.

This post exists primarily as a reminder to all of you. I will be making an update every Big Two with results and a battle log, along with any updates to the stream and the event itself. Hopefully, I'll be able to bring you some cool photos of the event, highlights of previous tournaments, and more soon.

For now, you can find the previous brackets at the Next Level x Team Spooky Challonge page and for the archives you can visit the Team Spooky YouTube channel or the Team Spooky Twitch channel.

Remember to follow us on Twitter too! You can follow Team Spooky @teamspooky and if you any suggestions, complaints, or whatever, hit me up @DICK_WOLF or leave a comment here.

Thanks and stay tuned!

Another week, another Big Two tournament at Next Level in New York. Sp00ky has uploaded the top matches in the ninth iteration of the Big Two tournament for both Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition Ver. 2012 and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

For AE2012, Sanford Kelly of Empire Arcadia has been playing consistently well and getting top 3 spots multiple times with his Sagat while Arturo Sanchez played with Rose and now reached grand finals against Santhrax. In UMVC3, Dieminion and his team of Viewtiful Joe, Morrigan, and Doctor Strange also had been doing well these past Big Two tournaments but local favorite Chris G. dominated through winners bracket where both ultimately converge in grand finals.

For more matches of the event, check out the AE2012 and UMVC3 playlist on Sp00ky's official YouTube. Grand finals for both games are after the break!

Next Level - Brooklyn, NY - A Profile Series

This is what I hope to be the first of a short series of articles about one particular place that is very important to the fighting game community. I know it has been some time since I have been active here on IPW, but as anyone whos been following us knows, recent issues as well as the weight of handling many events takes its toll somewhere. However I hope to be able to give you more of a behind the scenes, inside look at what goes on as well as entice you to show up, or at least encourage your local scene.

In recent times, the New York area lost an important hub of Arcade Gaming, Chinatown Fair. This displaced many of the gamers who visited religiously and were left with nowhere to congregate.

East Coast SSF4:AE SBO Qualifiers at Next Level, NYC Sponsored by Twitchtv - This Saturday, August 6th!

Sup guys,

Evolution 2011, as you guys already know, was an amazing event in every possible way. We are proud to have been a part of it, providing you the action! But despite hype meters still being off the charts, its time to keep it moving for us here at IPW x Team Sp00ky, as another important event is just around the corner.

This Saturday, for the first time ever, New York has a qualifier for SBO. For those who don't know, here's a little backstory. Super Battle Opera is the largest Japanese tournament every year. It features an invite only system, and to receive an invite you must win a qualifying tournament. Typically a very small amount of entrants are allowed for each game, so only the very best show up. This years Street Fighter 4 component is a 2 v 2. For more details on the tournament rules and format, check this out.
