Evolution 2011, as you guys already know, was an amazing event in every possible way. We are proud to have been a part of it, providing you the action! But despite hype meters still being off the charts, its time to keep it moving for us here at IPW x Team Sp00ky, as another important event is just around the corner.

This Saturday, for the first time ever, New York has a qualifier for SBO. For those who don't know, here's a little backstory. Super Battle Opera is the largest Japanese tournament every year. It features an invite only system, and to receive an invite you must win a qualifying tournament. Typically a very small amount of entrants are allowed for each game, so only the very best show up. This years Street Fighter 4 component is a 2 v 2. For more details on the tournament rules and format, check this out.

This event is about many things. For one, we want our best to represent us on a grand stage. But also, the players who go out there get an opportunity to talk strategy, play matches, and in general chill with many top players from all over the world, and the experience and knowledge they receive while there they can bring back with them for the mutual benefit of the rest of the scene.

This is so important that Twitchtv has recognized it, providing an extra $1000 towards the pot to help the players get out to Japan to do their thing.
