Digital Foundry checks out graphical power of Tekken 7 & its predecessors

The go-to people for graphics analysis at Digital Foundry got the chance to show off how each version of Tekken 7 is running and made a visual retrospective of the series.

DF's Thomas Morgan explains in detail how the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro and PC differ. This includes variances in resolution, post-processing effects and load times. A full text analysis, with screenshot comparisons, can be found here.

Dave Bierton talks about the evolution of the series and the hardware that powers each game. While Tekken has been a multiplatform series in recent entries, it has been one of the franchises that grew alongside Sony's PlayStation line of consoles before that shift. This growth starts all the way back at the original Tekken for the first PS system and the similar Namco System 11 arcade hardware.

New Classic Fighting Game Match Videos from Psychochronic

Need a fix of vanilla Tekken 6, Vampire Savior or X-Men vs. Street Fighter? Check out some of the videos after the jump.

Uploaded by old school fighting game community player Psychochronic, the new set contains classic competitive videos from both North America and Japan. Some have only been available on video sites like Niconico while others haven't been on the Internet for a while. There is also footage of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Street Fighter Alpha 3 and more on his YouTube channel.

TEKKEN 6: The Mishima Shrine Combo Exhibition 1 - Global Community Collaboration, Almost 70 Combos!

Diety Devil and The Main Man have uploaded a massive community collaboration combo video for Tekken 6. The video's description says it's a kind of farewell to the game, and what a send-off!  This is a truly global undertaking featuring 8 players from around the world and containing 68 combos, all of which feature Mishimas.  My hat's off to everybody involved and I'm looking forward to part 2!

Avoiding The Puddle Brings Classic ATP Podcast Segments to Youtube

As someone who listens to podcasts on a daily basis, I know firsthand that one of the few drawbacks of the format is that it is easy for exceptionally entertaining and/or informative segments to be buried and forgotten.  It is a hassle to find and re-listen to such segments, especially as the podcast gets older and your memory on how to find it fades, and new listeners might not even know what they missed.

Movement Tutorial for Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Tekken 6 Part 2: Advanced

Aris from Avoiding the Puddle brings us the second part of his great Tekken movement tutorial featuring more advanced concepts.  As Aris explains, this tutorial applies not just to Tekken 6 but also to the upcoming Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (he uses TTT2 Prologue in the video), so it is possible to practice some areas of the game now if you are anxiously awaiting its release.  He pans the camera down to show you how he does various movements on the arcade stick, which is helpful to many players.  It's absolutely stuffed with golden information, so if you are a Tekken fan please take a look.

Tekken 6: MK x Tekken Combo Video

T-Virus of Egyptian Darkness Team did an awesome job editing together this creative combo video. Not only do the Tekken characters impersonate a bunch of Mortal Kombatants, but they also pull off some nice combos in the process. We received word today that the WCG2011 just re-launched their website and registration for online qualifiers for Tekken 6 is now open. Tekken 6 is once again one of their featured games this year, and the online qualifiers will start around early May. Registration is limited so if you're looking to compete, get signed up ASAP!

Tekken 6: "The Bullet Train to Lake Baikal" Xiaoyu Combo Video by Lingmassacre

This combo video by Lingmassacre features over six minutes of combo videos for Xiaoyu.  It also has a very unique style, which makes it interesting to watch even if you don't play that character.  Fans of combo vids in general should check it out, as it's unusual to see someone have a different take on how combos can presented.
