Pre-Order 3rd Strike Online on PSN, Unlock Gill

Earlier today, Sony announced a new program for PlayStation Network users: the PLAY program. The program allows users to pre-order a select helping of titles and earn bonuses in the process, and one of the titles included in PLAY's first run is Super Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online Edition.

Pre-orders for all of the PLAY titles will open up on August 9 and, in the case of 3rd Strike Online, will run until August 18, less than a week before its August 23 launch on PSN. Should you opt to pre-order ahead of release, you'll be able to unlock Gill right from the get-go, all without having to beat the game with every character.

As an additional pre-order bonus, you'll also receive a Capcom-produced PS3 theme with artwork from 3rd Strike.

Participate in the Skullgirls Side Tourney at EVO, Win a One-of-a-Kind Stick

If you're headed out to EVO this weekend, you might be interested to know that Skullgirls developer Reverge Labs will be dropping by and throwing not only a panel, but also a side tournament for the as-of-yet unreleased title. The panel kicks off at 12:00 PM on Friday, and the side tournament is tentatively scheduled to start around 5 PM.

There's a little more incentive to participate in the side tourney beyond having the chance to play an unreleased game, though. Reverge Labs is also throwing some prizes into the mix, with second and third place receiving a Skullgirls-themed t-shirt - the grand prize is a custom, one-of-a-kind Skullgirls arcade stick designed by the team over at Arcade-in-a-Box.

If you want a chance to win the stick, be sure to register at the Skullgirls table no later than 3 PM on Saturday. If you do plan to enter, let us know!

PSA: One Week Left to Register for EVO

If you have any intentions of joining in on the big event that is EVO 2011, you'd better act fast. As MrWizard points out on the official EVO website, you only have one week to register. If you haven't done so by July 18 at 11:59pm PDT, well, you're out of luck.

So if you haven't done so already, head over to the EVO2K registration page and get registered. As a reminder, keep in mind that PlayStation 3 controllers are banned. For more information on that, see this link.

Also, don't forget! The EVO 2K11 stream will be brought to you by none other than iPlayWinner and Team Sp00ky. If for some reason you can't make it - and there better be a good excuse! - be sure to tune into that.

SSF4: AE PC Patch Due Out by Wednesday

Capcom gave a heads up over on Capcom Unity that a patch for Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition on the PC is due out by around early Wednesday morning. The patch addresses a number of issues PC users have been facing, and it also removes the DRM for all non-Steam version of the game. Hit the break to see the list of changes.

Bid On These Street Fighter-Themed Skate Decks, Help Japan

To commemorate the launch of Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition, Capcom commissioned several artists to create Street Fighter-themed skate decks. More importantly, these decks will be auctioned off for charity, with the funds going towards the Japanese tsunami relief efforts.

Capcom has been keeping silent about the future of Marvel vs Capcom 3 lately, but they still saw fit to drop hhints here and there that something is in the works. Going by the press release from Marvel detailing their San Diego Comic Con schedule (from CosmicBookNews via Shoryuken), it looks like we'll know just what that 'something' is at this year's SDCC.

EVO 2K11 Tournament Schedule

The EVO staff released the tournament schedule for all five titles over on the EVO2k website moments ago. Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition and Mortal Kombat 9 pools will kick off on Friday, July 29, and pools Marvel vs Capcom 3, Tekken 6 and BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II will start on Saturday, July 30.

Oh, and you might want to consider taking it a bit easy when you're in Vegas considering how early the tournaments start. If you want to get any sleeping done, at least.

SSF4: AE Out Now on PC, New Costume Pack Out on Consoles

If you've been holding off on picking up SSF4: AE until the PC version releases, your wait is now over - the game is now available for purchasing directly through Capcom's store, Steam and Direct2Drive for $39.99.

Additionally, Capcom has released the first costume pack for SSF4: AE on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. The new pack includes two new costumes for all four of the new characters, one of which is console-exclusive. To check out all of the new costumes, head over to the screenshot gallery below.
