Let's Go Crazy! Capcom Announces Marvel Vs. Capcom: Origins

To be released on PSN and XBLA, the downloadable duo of old-school arcade games includes Marvel Super Heroes and MVC1. The games will have "HD graphical upgrades," GGPO, 8-player lobbies, spectator mode, dynamic challenges, and replay saving. I wonder if MVC will have all its insane glitches intact. One thing is for sure, though: Marvel Super Heroes will feature gems! MVC: Origins will be available this September for $14.99/1200 MSP.

SFxTK: How Hard Can We Troll? The Evolution of Mega Man's Design

HeatMan over at The Mega Man Network has a new piece about the evolving design of everyone's favorite gravity-defying, out-of-shape, middle-aged company mascot. He takes a look at the various early designs, as shown in the Street Fighter X Capcom artbook (now available in Japan). Among them are some decidedly less obese variations, as well as some that remain closer to the Blue Bomber's original color palette. It's hard to believe that Mega Man's creator, Keiji Inafune gave this inclusion his blessing before leaving the company. Or, was it simply his final act of trolling on his way out the door?

Either way, take a look at a few examples after the break, or head to the Mega Man Network for the full story!

SFxTK: Vita Version Has Cross-Platform Play, Free Characters for PS3 Owners

Capcom released a bunch of new info about the Vita version of Street Fighter X Tekken, and most of it is great news for PS3 owners. The Vita version can be played multiplayer locally or via Wi-Fi or 3G against other Vita players or even against PS3 players. Also, Capcom will allow those who buy the Vita version to download all of the additional characters for free on their PS3.

Skullgirls: Prepare for Trouble (and Make it Double) in New Trailer

What is a fighting game without shape-shifting, move-copying characters like Dural, N. Boss, and Seth? Skullgirls has its resident shapeshifter, Double, and she stars in her own trailer on the PlayStation Blog today. Not only does she mimic the rest of the cast, but she can also temporarily turn the fighting arena into a Gradius stage.

In addition, developer Reverge Labs announced a rather fully-featured, free trial version of the game, a PSN release date of April 10, and some upcoming sponsored tournaments offering custom-built sticks as prizes.

Check out the Double trailer after the break, and if you're still hesitant to spend a measly $14.99 next week, at least give the demo a try!

Shun Slider Satsu Brings Home the Bacon in IPLAYWINNER's First Ever Cooking Contest

It is with great pleasure that we announce Jay Jay's cross-food masterpiece, the Shun Slider Satsu, as the winner of our first ever Super Dynamic Cooking Contest. Laura took a close second with her delicious Bob's Fat Jab - Panini Sweep. Deserving an honorable mention, in third place, is Armin Rm Ramazyan's Blanka Ball Breakfast, which was also the first entry!

Choosing just one of these to win was incredibly difficult, but I'll explain the decision-making process after the break!

SoulCalibur V: Take a Look at the Complete Patch Notes

Namco released full patch notes for the upcoming SoulCalibur V patch. The fuzzy guard option select will be fixed, along with a ton of tweaks to move properties. It seems like most of these adjustments are nerfs, but I guess we'll see how it all plays out when the patch gets released on March 21.

SDTekken is hosting a PDF of the entire list here, or you can read a sampling of the system changes below.

SFxTK: Gravity Loses Its Grip in Desk's CMV2

Desk uses a floaty glitch to make Akuma drift away in his latest combo music video. He does so by exploiting the glitchy quick-combo system, which causes strange results when kara-canceled into from another move, much like an Alpha 3 kattobi cancel (kara into custom combo activation). In addition to the glitch shenanigans, the video has some nice combos, including a high-damage Cammy combo.

SF x TK: Trag Combos Focus on the Ladies

Tragic released the second part of his Random SFxT Combos. This edition is all about the ladies of Street Fighter and Tekken. Juri and Cammy dive around the screen, Nina and Asuka chain into launcher, and Pandora gets activated mid-combo.

SF x TK: Desk CMV1 Has Combos and Glitches Galore

Desk kicks off his Street Fighter X Tekken combo music video series in style, with Pandora-on-Pandora glitchiness. He's also got combos into and out of Supers, Jin floaty combos, Happy Birthdays, triple-crumple combos, and a variety of characters frozen in place. I particularly like the post-Gigas Breaker backbreaker, though I have no idea how it was done.

SF x TK: "The Devil Within" Live-Action Short Film by Thousand Pounds is Weighty

This little piece of cinema takes a more serious look at the conflict between the Street Fighter and Tekken worlds.

The Devil Gene. The Satsui no hadou.
Both hide in the depths of one's soul and are unrelenting powers that plague the heroes of the Tekken and Street Fighter universes respectively. "Is the quest for power just when the cost is your own humanity?"

SF x TK: Capcom Confirms Upcoming Paid Downloadable Content is Already On-disc

You may have seen some suspicious videos of unreleased Street Fighter X Tekken characters circulating the Internet over the past few days. Capcom has confirmed that this is a result of all of data for the upcoming, for-pay DLC characters existing completely on the retail disc.

While their explanation is all about being able to "reenergize" the game at a later date, the update is already complete! We bought the disc that has the update on it! This is like 3rd Strike secretly existing on the 2nd Impact CD-ROM. Why would we practice on a earlier, gimped version of a game when we have the update right in front of us? Why can't we have a deeper game, with twelve more characters for EVO? Don't worry, though. When the "update" is released at the end of the year, "it'll be a great value."

Check after the break for the full PR statement from Capcom, and please let us know how you feel about this in the comments!

SF x TK: Latest GamesRadar Character Demos are Totally Staged

In these latest GamesRadar videos, the training dummy doesn't even fight back! Seriously though, Crackfiend and LPN do a fine job breaking down what another bunch of characters are capable of. For example, Marduk has two additional wakeup options that other characters don't!

Check after the break for Sagat, Cammy, Rufus, Guile, Dhalsim and Marduk!

SF x TK: Desk Team Combos Feature Nine-Shoryuken Juggles, Pandora Mode, Cats

The inimitable Desk has released a team-combo complement to his previous Street Fighter X Tekken solo-combo video. The exhibition features "the tightest link in the game," Marduk's Gator Slam xx switch-cancel, and other completely impractical, flashy combos. Damage scaling puts a damper on these combos' usability, but Desk also admits that they just scratch the surface of what is possible. He also included a megamix hype video with the awesomely nostalgic SFxTK Final Fight stage music.

Check out both videos below!

SDTEKKEN released a combo video for a recent build of Street Fighter X Tekken that covers a bunch of characters, including Street Fighters. The video showcases some simple, effective loops using EX moves and also manages to land free supers after specific tag-cancels. Be sure to stay until the end for the last combo, with its jumping chains and multiple tags.

A promising trend has cropped up recently: general gaming sites are employing top players to help cover fighting games with the requisite knowledge and attention to detail. On that note, GamesRadar got Crackfiend and LPN to do some video walkthroughs of Street Fighter X Tekken characters. If you're interested in playing any of these four characters, you should definitely study the videos.
