Killer Instinct's Season 3 has added a lot of changes to the game, including the new flipout mechanic.

Much like an air reel or reset in games like Street Fighter III: Third Strike, KI's flipout allows players to either continue a combo or try to reset an opponent for more damage. 

To help explain the new addition to KI's mixup options, Sajam has recorded a roughly four-minute breakdown explaining both offensive and defensive options when flipout is utilized. Although only focused TJ Combo's flipout decisions, the video can be a great help in understanding the new mechanic.
