SFXT Concept Matches with TS|Sabin and DM|Xian!

Been too busy with ESports and FGC drama to post here, but I'm back with some updates for you guys! Recently, DM|Xian (Twitter: @xianmsg) was at MLG for KOF13. He extended his trip to leave NYC on Friday, so he stayed at my house for some matches! Not only did he play online via my fiber optic connection - we also had a FT10 concept match in Street Fighter x Tekken just for fun. Check out the concept match below, along with links to his adventures on netplay. Also, be sure to subscribe to my Youtube channel at youtube.com/fgcsabin!

King of GGPO Grand Finals, SFXT Ranked Matches & Other TS Sabin Updates

Sup IPW/Team Spooky fans! Been a while, but I'm sure you'll understand with the recent turn of events (Cross Assault, Final Round, IPL @ SXSW and MLG announcements) things have been rather hectic. Since I have a bit of downtime, I wanted to link you guys to my recent uploads on my Youtube channel, talk about my new stream (own3d.tv/nycfurby) - bookmark and sub. I'll be streaming tonight at 8PM EST! I also have  a small footnote about MLG.

First off, I've uploaded the Grand Finals from The King of GGPO Winter Edition. This happened right before the start of Cross Assault. Thanks to @sf2kuroppi and Papasi for their hard work organizing, keeping GGPO monsters in check, etc.

Sheraton Suites Hotel
4101A Island Avenue,
Philadelphia, PA 19153

Now in its 6th iteration, Winter Brawl is a part of a series of yearly events run by Eric “Big E” Small and Robert “Fightclub” Hubbs.  Generally known as the event that begins the “Evo Season”, Winter Brawl 6 is a part of the “Road to Evo 2012”.  Last year, Winter Brawl was the first Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 Major with Justin Wong winning the first major MVC3 title.  This year sees that tradition continue with the debut of Soul Calibur V.  Namco is supporting this with a $1000 pot bonus for Soul Calibur V.  Winter Brawl 6 is a Soul Calibur V seeding event for Final Round 15 with the winner receiving an all expenses paid trip to Final Round.  Similar to Summer Jam, this tournament will feature high quality streams from Team Spooky and 8 Way Run.  With everyone looking to  start 2012 with a victory, let’s take a look at some of the prominent players attending.

Team Sp00ky x Next Level Big 2 Tourney Live now! (Sponsored by SRK)

Alright guys, it's that time of the week again! Check out some of the tri-state area's best players go at it again at our weekly tournament series, Big Two! Results have been pretty consistent for the most part from week to week - last week in AE, Sanford won it over Dieminion in the finals with myself getting a salty 3rd place again. I won't be there this week due to me being sick, but Chris Hu is back at Next Level after being in China for two weeks! I'm personally excited to see Rush Hour back in action. We'll also have a look at the UMVC3 killers that keep placing week after week - Megaman Steve, LB Chris G, UVG Noel Brown, NerdJosh, etc etc.

Stream is as the usual place - teamspooky on TwitchTV!

The King of GGPO 2012 Winter Edition Replays - Super Turbo

I've just recently finished uploading replays from last weekend's King of GGPO 2012 Winter Edition tournament! Round 1 of this ongoing online tourney series had a decent sized turnout, and some top tier players came out of hibernation to show their stuff! This tourney was graced with the presence of longtime ST player afrolegends. Yito2k finished in a strong 2nd place with his excellent Dhalsim, and Kyouya (previous top 4 finalist at The King of GGPO I) got 3rd place! However, it doesn't stop there as there are a bunch of quaity matches that I've uploaded as well, along with my drunk commentary!

Disappointed that you coudn't play? Remember it's a ongoing series! Round 2 of The King of GGPO is Friday, Feb. 10, at 10 p.m. PST/1 a.m. EST! If you can't play, be sure to check it out on my stream - nycfurby on @ TwitchTV! I put some hyperlinks below for the Youtube playist as well as the registration for this week's event. Make sure to subscribe to my channel on YT!

Team Spooky and Next Level's Big 2 tonight at 7PM EST!

Alright guys, it's that time of the week again to see see what the NYC scene has to offer in the "Big Two" Capcom games! For those of you that have been following Team Spooky's progress after the release of SSF4AE 2012 and UMVC3, you've probably noticed that the NYC scene has been revitalized in a big way! People seem to generally be happy with the new games, and they're showing up to Next Level accordingly.

Last week, Kevin "I'm so consistent" Landon took SSF4AE over Team Bifuteki's newest addition, Spab Rog (who beat me very solidly in the losers finals). in UMVC3, Noel "I'm the Best In the World" Brown took it over one of the more consistent NYC players since Marvel has dropped - Local Battles' very own ChrisG! Will the same players return to their consistent placings, or will a dark horse turn it up? Tune in tonight to find out!

Stream link is at the usual place - teamsp00ky on TwitchTV!

On the Scene: The Next Level Brief Overview by Sabin

The New York scene is renown and revered for both its rawness and its realness. Chinatown Fair, the arcade where quite a few of the top East Coast players came from, was certainly no exception. For those of you that came to Chinatown Fair in the past, I'm sure you remember how dark, gritty and smelly it was.

There were also a large amount of undesirables that came to the arcade: people that just came and took up space just to hang out and not actually play any games. Of course I don't just want to put CF on blast; I had some amazing memories there, and the place definitely helped shape me as a person. I can easily say that I acquired much of my skill from Chinatown Fair - as well as quite the number of friends that I still correspond with to this day.

I was utterly heartbroken when it closed. I wondered, "What will happen to the East Coast scene?"

Arcana Heart 3 - Quick/Initial Impressions of the Japanese PS3/XBOX360 port

Updated on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at 5:10AM by Registered CommenterSabin

American expat (and prominent community member) HeartNana is in Japan with an early copy of the game, and word is coming back from him (as well as other Japanese players) that the game is arcade perfect - and the netcode is extremely good - as expected. HeartNana comments that the netcode feels extremely similar to BlazBlue style netcode, which is obviously a good thing.

Once I get the game, I will write my initial impressions about it here, and look forward to the game being prominently featured on future TeamSp00ky streams since we are about dat poverty, after all.
