Yatagarasu update still on the way, three new characters planned

It has been more than a year since players first heard about a new upgrade coming to the arcade version of Yatagarasu, but a recent story on 4Gamer confirms that the project is still very much alive and coming in the future.

Entitled "Enter the Eastward," the new version of the game will include three new characters as well as balance changes. The first new character, Wagui, was revealed previously but the other two additions are male and female characters still shrouded in mystery.

There is still currently no release date for the game's upcoming revision, but voices for the new characters were recorded in July 2018 so hopefully that means more information will be forthcoming sooner than later.

Is Simon Belmont joining the cast of Smash Ultimate?

Nintendo has scheduled a special Nintendo Direct for Aug. 8, but it's possible the company may have let one piece of information slip before the big announcement.

On Nintendo's YouTube channel, many of the songs in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Ultimate have been uploaded so that players can listen to the music using links from the game's official website.

One of those, a Galaga medley, temporarily had its name changed to "Bloody Tears/Monster Dance" before being reverted to its original name. Those two tracks are part of the soundtracks in Castlevania 1 and 2, respectively.

What this could mean is that Simon Belmont is finally joining Smash Bros. after years of fan request. However, at this point it's impossible to know for sure.

Fans will find out either way during the Nintendo Direct on Aug. 8 at 7 a.m. PDT (10 a.m. EDT) as the company reveals more about the upcoming entry in the Smash Bros. series. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will release for Nintendo Switch on Dec. 7, 2018.

New patch brings big changes, Goku, Vegeta to Dragon Ball FighterZ

The newest patch for Dragon Ball FighterZ is live, and it has brought a sizable list of alterations to the game through new options and balance tweaks.

On the side of the game itself, Training Mode has received several new functions including the ability to have a set Ginyu Force assist for Captain Ginyu or power level for Adult Gohan as well as dummy recording slots so players can test setups and scenarios.

In terms of balance, the new patch has the potential to change how players look at many members of the cast. Clearly strong characters such as Cell and Kid Buu received nerfs to the speed of their normal attacks and both lost the ability to cross opposing players up with aerial special moves, while other fighters such as Tien, Captain Ginyu and Nappa all gained improvements.

The patch notes are currently only available in Japanese, but GREATFERNMAN has been translating the patch notes at Evernote.

In addition, the newest DLC characters Goku and Vegeta are now available in Europe and they should release for players in North America sometime on Aug. 8.

Sagat, G now available in Street Fighter V

The last two characters of Street Fighter V's third season are now available for players.

G is an online content producer who considers himself "President of the World" and utilizes a special, three-leveled Presidentiality meter that will buff his attacks. However, getting knocked down will reduce the meter, so G has to be careful. His V-Skill is G Barrier, a force field which launches opponents into the air and absorbs projectiles, and his V-Triggers are Maximum President and Dangerous President.

Maximum President sets G's Presidentiality to level three, allows him to use G Barrier as a projectile and gives him the ability to cancel special moves into one another. Dangerous President gives him two new moves: G Explosion, a move that can be cancelled into from any other special and launches the opponent into the air, and the G Rage command grab.

G is joined in the update by Sagat, a longtime fan-favorite character in the Street Fighter series. No longer part of Shadaloo, Sagat's only desire is a rematch with Ryu when both are fighting at the highest level. Sagat retains his classic move set in SFV, with Angry Charge now being his V-Skill.

His first V-Trigger is Tiger Charge, which grants him the use of the special Tiger Cannon projectile and creates for strong control and combo potential. The second, Tiger Assault, gives him the armored Tiger Spike which can be charged to break an opponent's guard and Tiger Rush, an enhanced version of Tiger Knee Crush.

Both G and Sagat will cost players 100,000 Fight Money or $5.99 each. Readers can check out their trailers after the jump.

Bandai Namco updating Tekken 7 with Season 2 DLC, adds new gameplay, Anna Williams, Lei Wulong and Negan from The Walking Dead

While it seems that rumors of a second season of downloadable content for Tekken 7 were true, Bandai Namco still managed to throw players a curve ball with the announcement.

After Tekken 7's finals during Evo 2018, the company revealed that the game will be getting a second season of content along with a game-system overhaul that will include new Rage Drives and wall bounce moves. There will also be six new characters, including returning fighters Anna Williams and Lei Wulong.

However, the most surprising announcement was that a third new fighter will be the villain Negan from The Walking Dead. A maniac with a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire, Negan seems an odd choice and it will be interesting to see how Bandai Namco fits him into the world of Tekken.

The identities of the other three characters, or other details on Season 2 or its Season Pass, are not available at this time. Readers can check out the first Season 2 trailer after the jump.

Arc System Works reveals gameplay details for Kill la Kill: IF

The upcoming 3-D battle action game based on Studio Trigger's famous property has had its combat fleshed out in a new posting by developer Arc System Works.

For starters, there will be no complex motions required for attacks as the controls will instead focus on simply pressing a button along with different directions. These moves will work with the game's rock-paper-scissors-style of determining which attack lands, although the ability to evade those strikes will add more complexity.

In addition, the game will also feature the "Ketsui Burst" system that seeks to recreate intense scenes of dialogue during fights in the anime. On a successful burst, both players will be taken into a minigame where they have to choose dialogue from their character. If the player who burst wins the minigame, their character will move up in Ketsui level, gaining powered-up moves. When the character reaches the highest Ketsui level, they will be able to use a deadly blow named the "Seni Soushitsu Ougi."

Kill la Kill: IF is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4 and PC sometime in 2019.
