Mind the accumulation: Snow joins the cast of Dissidia Final Fantasy

Square Enix has revealed that Final Fantasy XIII's Snow Villiers will be the next character to join Dissidia Final Fantasy and its console counterpart.

Snow appears in his form from Lightning Returns and seems to fight mostly as a melee attacker with some magic to back up his close-range combat.

He is the final of six DLC characters coming to Dissidia Final Fantasy and joins Vayne Carudas Solidor, Locke Cole, Rinoa Heartilly, Kam'lanaut and Yuna as additional members of the cast.

Sixth Dissidia Final Fantasy DLC character to be revealed on Jan. 28

The last of six announced post-launch DLC characters will be unveiled during an official Square Enix stream taking place at the end of January 2019.

Given the previous reveals, the final character will be a male character from the newer Final Fantasy games who has never been part of the series before. He will join Vayne Carudas Solidor, Locke Cole, Rinoa Heartilly, Kam'lanaut and Yuna as additional members of the cast.

Players will be able to watch the announcement on Jan. 28 at 20:00 JST (3 a.m. PST, 6 a.m. EST) on the official Square Enix YouTube Channel.

If the other characters are any indication, players can look for this new character to be released sometime in February 2019. Dissidia Final Fantasy is currently available in Japanese arcades and on the PlayStation 4 as Dissidia Final Fantasy NT.

The end of Sin: Yuna joins Dissidia Final Fantasy

Square Enix has revealed that Final Fantasy X's Yuna will be the next character to join Dissidia Final Fantasy and its console counterpart.

Yuna fights at distance with powerful magic and the help of Valefor, who seems to be able to save Yuna from combo situations. Yuna's stage is the beach of Besaid, which will have both daytime and sunset versions.

Yuna is the fifth of six DLC characters coming to Dissidia Final Fantasy and joins Vayne Carudas Solidor, Locke Cole, Rinoa Heartilly and Kam'lanaut as additional members of the cast. The final character, a male character from the newer Final Fantasy games who has never been part of the series before, will be announced in January 2019.

Dissidia celebrating third anniversary, new character info to be unveiled

The next DLC addition to the cast of Dissidia Final Fantasy will be revealed during a stream celebrating the third anniversary of the game's arcade edition, Square Enix announced.

The announcement will be part of a one-day tournament and broadcast. It is unclear if one or both of the remaining DLC characters will be shown, but they will join Vayne Carudas Solidor, Locke Cole, Rinoa Heartilly and Kam'lanaut as part of the game's cast.

The unveiling will take place on Nov. 10 at 12:00 JST ( Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. PST, 10 p.m. EST) with an official broadcast from the Square Enix YouTube channel.

Final Fantasy XI's Kam'lanaut coming to Dissidia: Final Fantasy AC & NT

A character from the first Final Fantasy MMORPG will be coming to all versions of the current edition of Dissidia: Final Fantasy.

Zilart prince Kam'lanaut from Final Fantasy XI was announced in the Sept. 11, 2018, stream by Square-Enix. He will be playable on Sept. 19, 2018, for those who have access to the arcade version. For Dissidia: Final Fantasy NT players, he is set for October through the season pass and as a separate download.

Next Dissidia character to be revealed on Sept. 11

The next DLC character coming to Dissidia Final Fantasy will be announced on a Square Enix stream in early September 2018.

According to SE, the character will be a male from the later half of the series that has not previously appeared in the Dissidia series. This character will be the fourth of six DLC additions to the cast, joining Vayne Carudas Solidor, Locke Cole and Rinoa Heartilly.

The unveiling will take place on Sept. 11 at 20:00 JST (4 a.m. PDT, 7 a.m. EDT) with an official broadcast from the Square Enix YouTube channel. The stream will also serve as a celebration of the Theatrhythm Final Fantasy arcade game's second anniversary.

Eyes on her: Rinoa joins the cast of Dissidia as third DLC character

Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy VIII's Rinoa Heartilly will be the next character to join Dissidia Final Fantasy and its console counterpart.

Rinoa fights with a crossbow-type weapon and the aid of her dog, Angelo, but can also activate her sorceress form where she sprouts wings and becomes a heavy magic user. Her stage in Dissidia will be the time wasteland that transforms into a field of flowers.

Next Dissidia Final Fantasy DLC character to be revealed on July 10

The third of six characters coming to Dissidia Final Fantasy NT as part of the game's season pass will be unveiled in early July.

According to a tweet from the official Dissidia Final Fantasy account, this third character will be one of the female characters from the latter half of the series' history.

The character will be part of a larger update to both the console and arcade versions of the game, which will also include game adjustments and fixes. The details of the patch, including the character, will be revealed during a stream on July 10 at 8 p.m. in Japan (4 a.m. PDT, 7 a.m. EDT) on Niconico and YouTube. The patch will then be applied to the arcade version of Dissidia on July 12.

Square Enix has not made it clear when the patch will be added to the console version of the game. Dissidia Final Fantasy is currently available in Japanese arcades and for the PlayStation 4.

Locke Cole sneaks into Dissidia as second DLC character

Final Fantasy VI's resident thief, treasure hunter and spy will be joining the cast of Dissidia Final Fantasy NT.

Locke focuses on close-range combat, using his daggers to assault foes and a boomerang chakram that can allow him to fight outside of close quarters. His unique ability is Steal/Mug, which changes depending on whether he is targeting the opposing character. When used on enemies he is not targeting, the skill is Steal and allows him to gain items that give health or bravery, but when used on targeted opponents his Mug ability takes an item that allows him to perform a powerful attack.

Vayne Carudas Solidor revealed for Dissidia, first console DLC

Final Fantasy XII's main antagonist will be the first of six characters joining the console version of Dissidia as part of the game's Season Pass.

Although he does have some ranged attacks, Solidor seems to rely mostly on his fists, with fast attacks that help close the gap between him and his opponents.

Dissidia adding Orbonne Monastery stage in upcoming update

The refuge of Princess Ovelia is coming to both the arcade and console versions of Square Enix's arena fighter.

Orbonne Monastery appears much as it did in Final Fantasy Tactics, with no new obstacles or additions to the terrain. Players will, however, be able to run up the sides of the monastery to create multilevel fights.

Arcades will first get the monastery as part of an update on Feb. 22, while the console version of Dissidia will receive the stage as part of an update in late March.

Spectator mode, improvements come to Dissidia Final Fantasy NT

Two new updates—version 1.04 and 1.05—have rolled out for Square Enix's Final Fantasy arena fighter, giving players more ways to enjoy the title.

Along with nonspecific bug fixes and stability improvements, version 1.04 has also added the ability to spectate custom matches, with up to 24 people total watching and playing in a given match. This feature will definitely help the title if it tries to become a widely played competitive game.

Dissidia has also made setup easier by allowing players the ability to copy entire EX skill sets from one character to another when customizing. This change also seems to focus on competitive play, as it cuts down on the time players might need to prepare for a match.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is currently available for PlayStation 4.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT open beta now live

While the game released in Japan on Jan. 11, North American players waiting for their region's version of Dissidia Final Fantasy NT will have more than a week to try it out.

The Dissidia open beta is live from Jan. 12 through Jan. 21, 2018, and will offer three separate sessions featuring different members of the cast. The first session will run from 6 a.m. PST on Jan. 12 through 1 p.m. PST on Jan. 15; the second will start at 2 p.m. that same day and go through 1 p.m. on Jan. 18; and the last will begin at 2 p.m. on Jan. 18 running through 1 p.m. on Jan. 21.

The open beta will feature both online and offline play, character customization and a PlayStation Plus membership is not required to play. However, save data from the beta will not be carried over into Dissidia's full release.

Square Enix hints at upcoming Dissidia DLC characters

Square Enix has given players clues as to what characters will be showing up as part of the downloadable content for Dissidia Final Fantasy NT.

During a Japanese stream on Jan. 10, the company gave vague outlines of the six characters that will be coming to the game after its release as part of the season pass. There will be two female and four male characters making up the DLC, with one of the male characters coming from the older half of Final Fantasy titles while the other five will be from the newer games. In addition, one of the female characters has previously appeared in the Dissidia series.

While cryptic, these hints will definitely give Dissidia fans something to think about as the game approaches release. The season pass will cost players 4000 yen (roughly $35) while individual characters will run 800 yen (about $7).

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT releases on the PlayStation 4 console on Jan. 11, 2018, in Japan and Jan. 30 in North America and Europe.

Square Enix, Amazon team for Dissidia Fantasy Finals

A upcoming one-day exhibition of Dissidia Final Fantasy NT on Jan. 17, 2018, will pit "some of the biggest streamers in fighting for a battle royale" and give viewers a chance to earn prizes.

The Dissidia Fantasy Finals will have eight teams comprised of champion players, streamers and other noteworthy personalities battling it out in a single-elimination bracket. The list of invited participants includes players such as ZeRo, KizzieKay, Tasty Steve, Chris G, BeautifulDude and Nairo.

Viewers at home, meanwhile, have a chance to win prizes like a Dissidia arcade cabinet by correctly completing a fantasy bracket on the event's website using a code they receive by preordering Dissidia from Amazon.

Noctis takes the wheel in new Dissidia gameplay trailer

Previously revealed at Tokyo Game Show 2017, Noctis Lucis Caelum now has an official gameplay trailer for his appearance in Dissidia Final Fantasy and its console version.

Noctis is mostly a melee fighter but can throw his weapon and then teleport to it. He can also use the power of Armiger to summon different weapons, allowing him to swap between them during his combos.

Along with Noctis, Dissidia is also a receiving a new stage that recreates the void of nothingness and field of flowers from the climax of Final Fantasy VIII.

Golbez controls his own destiny in Dissidia Final Fantasy

One of the main antagonists of Final Fantasy IV is joining the cast of Dissidia Final Fantasy and its upcoming PlayStation 4 counterpart.

Golbez is a powerful sorcerer who fights at a distance from his opponents with the aid of his shadow dragon.

Golbez is the last character announced as part of Square Enix's plan to roll out a new Dissidia character for every month from August through November. Jecht, Ultimecia and Cloud of Darkness have also been revealed for the title.

Along with Golbez, Dissidia is also a receiving a new stage in the form of the Stellar Fulcrum from Final Fantasy XI.

New Dissida Final Fantasy NT trailer explores character class options

Square Enix has released a new Dissidia Final Fantasy NT trailer discussing the four styles of character in the upcoming game.

The short video talks about the rock-paper-scissors-style gameplay in Dissidia, letting players know how each class will match up against others in the game. While vanguard, marksman and assassin are all largely set in stone, specialists will vary given each character's unique set of skills.

Cloud of Darkness to engulf Dissidia Final Fantasy

The main villain of Final Fantasy III is joining the cast of the Dissidia Final Fantasy and its upcoming PlayStation 4 counterpart.

Cloud of Darkness fights with its two tentacles, which give it much longer melee reach, as well as several powerful magic attacks including one that seems like a counter of some kind.

Cloud of Darkness is the third character announced as part of Square Enix's plan to roll out a new Dissidia character for every month from August through November. Jecht and Ultimecia have also been revealed for the title.

Noctis confirmed for Dissidia Final Fantasy NT

During the Sony press conference at Tokyo Game Show 2017, Square Enix revealed the newest character coming to the console version of Dissidia.

That character is Final Fantasy XV protagonist Noctis Lucis Caelum. Some brief gameplay footage of Noctis was shown, including melee attacks and his ability to throw his sword.
