« Mortal Kombat: DLC News! Skarlet Release Date, New Costumes, Rain Announced! »
The first DLC character for Mortal Kombat, the blood-craving Skarlet, finally has a release date. She will be available to download on Playstation Network and Xbox Marketplace on June 21, 2011! In a trailer (found inside this article), you'll see a really cool backstory for the character. The end of the trailer teases three other characters. The first one is Kenshi, and the next one is Rain! The last one is still hidden. The trailer says that Skarlet is available to download now, but she isn't. She will be available at the above date.
This info comes via IGN.
Each of these characters will be released individually over the course of the summer. A free "compatibility pack" will be released alongside each character so that you can still play against the characters online even if you decide not to purchase a character.
What's even more awesome (thank you NetherRealm!) is that these free compatibility packs will come with two skins! The first pack contains costumes for Cyrax and Sektor inspired by Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. These are free whether you buy the character DLC or you just download the compatibility packs. It's refreshing to see a company give away something that you know that they could have charged for.
Well, that's a lot of Mortal Kombat DLC news for the day. What do you think? Excited?
