Capcom Pro Tour 2018 schedule, details unveiled

Capcom has revealed the dates and rules of the upcoming Capcom Pro Tour 2018. As has become the standard, 32 players will qualify for Capcom Cup, with the tour starting at Final Round.

Qualification for Capcom Cup is much like it was in 2017: only six spots at are guaranteed, with four going to regional finals winners, one to a last-chance qualifier at Capcom Cup and the final spot going to reigning champ Mena RD. The other 26 competitors will be decided by the global points leaderboad.

Regional Finals events will see a change in 2018, however, as they will now be broken down into two events: an open-entry tournament that will grant points toward the global and regional leaderboards, as well as a location-restricted Regional Finals Top 8 that will see the players with the highest point totals in that region compete for a spot at Capcom Cup.

Players can view Capcom's season teaser trailer after the jump, and can find a full breakdown of the 2018 system at the Capcom Pro Tour website, along with the schedule of offline events.

Ken, Ryu don formal attire as part of Capcom Pro Tour DLC

Capcom has released its Capcom Pro Tour 2017 content, complete with new outfits, titles, colors and a few surprises still to come.

The Capcom Pro Tour DLC is designed to give players some cool visual upgrades to their Street Fighter V experience while putting money back into the Pro Tour and adding a prize bonus to Capcom Cup. According to Capcom's Neidel Crisan, "a minimum of 30% of the revenue will go to the Capcom Cup 2017 prize pool, and an additional 50% of the revenue is invested into Capcom Pro Tour production."

This year's DLC includes formal costumes for Ken and Ryu, as well as the CPT stage and a costume designed by 2016 Capcom Cup winner NuckleDu that will both be revealed later. In addition, players who purchase the DLC as a bundle will also get new titles for their account, a CPT-themed blue color for every character in the game and new daily targets to gain more Fight Money on their CFN account.

For complete details on the CPT content, check out the PlayStation Blog. The Capcom Pro Tour bundle is now available for $24.9, while individual costumes will cost buyers $5.99 and the upcoming CPT stage will be $9.99 on release.

Capcom Pro Tour 2017 details revealed

Capcom has revealed the dates and rules of the upcoming Capcom Pro Tour 2017. Again 32 players will qualify for Capcom Cup, and the tour will start with Final Round 20 on March 10-12, 2017.

However, the qualification process is different in 2017. Only six spots at Capcom Cup are guaranteed: four go to regional finals winners, one to a last-chance qualifier at Capcom Cup and the last to previous champ NuckleDu. The other 26 competitors will be decided by the global points leaderboad.

With almost no tournament granting auto-qualification, Ranking and online events could be more important than ever before in CPT. To accompany this change, point distribution has been altered to give more weight to Evolution 2017 and Premier events. Fifteen Global Premier events have been announced, with venues ranging from Chicago, Illinois, to Chengdu, China.

For a full breakdown on how the system will work, along with global and regional event locations, head over to the CPT website. Players can check out the point distribution chart and official trailer after the jump.

Capcom updates, clarifies player sponsorship rules for pro tour

Capcom has announced new amendments to the rules for its Capcom Pro Tour, based on "community feedback [the company] received." Previously, Capcom had prohibited player sponsorship by companies that produced adult entertainment, but due to comments surrourding the decision Capcom has revised its stance.

Now, the company says that all players will be allowed to compete no matter the sponsor but that "Capcom will not allow, and will not allow third parties, to display, advertise, or otherwise promote in any manner sponsorship, endorsement or commercial or any other type of affiliation with" those companies.

Furthermore, Capcom has added to the list of prohibited sponsors "companies that manufacture, sell, distribute or market alcoholic beverages, cigarettes or vaping (e-cigarette ), drugs, guns or other weapon[s]." The new addition, Capcom said on Twitter, was designed to "provide an inviting atmosphere for players of all ages" and have the tour's rules reflect that notion.

The complete updated rules can be found on the Capcom Pro Tour website.

Capcom Pro Tour 2016 rules updated, published

Capcom has updated and made the full rules of CPT 2016 available to the general public, from the tournament format to the code of conduct players must follow.

While most rules should be familiar to experienced tournament players, there are a few important distinctions that have been made. First off, Capcom has officially barred sponsors that are involved in adult entertainment and leaves the door open to ban any other sponsor "Capcom deems inappropriate at its sole discretion."

Second, the company has also banned any form of gambling at the events, with violators to be ejected from the event and possibly banned from CPT.

The company has also taken a stance against swearing, violence and "other forms of thuggery." The rules can be found at the Capcom Pro Tour website.

Patch for Ultra Street Fighter IV on PlayStation 4 to be Submitted for Certification, Release Date TBA

Following the recent negative reception towards the Ultra Street Fighter IV port on PlayStation 4, work is being done to supress the issues surrounding the version.

Sony Computer Entertainment America's director of third party production Gio Corsi announced that a patch will be submitted for certification on May 29. While the release of the patch is still to be determined, it will be tested to make sure it's ready for public availability. Update notes will also be revealed at a later date.

Other Ocean, the developer behind the port, issued a statement that they are working "with SCEA and Capcom to ensure all current issues are addressed as quickly as possible."

Released on May 26, Ultra Street Fighter IV on PlayStation 4 had players encountering various problems in the game such as the large input lag, menu slowdown, user interface issues, changes to character moves and graphical and audio bugs. Capcom announced that it would cancel use of the PS4 version in upcoming Capcom Pro Tour tournaments until further notice. CPT-sanctioned tournaments, such as the upcoming Community Effort Orlando, can use their preferred console version.
