Dizzy Wins Character Vote, Will Join Guilty Gear Xrd

The results of the Xrd character poll are in, and Dizzy will be joining Guilty Gear Xrd in the future.

Although preliminary results had shown Holy Order Sol in the lead early, Dizzy ended up taking the vote, defeating second place Bridget by more than 300 votes. Baiken and HOS rounded out the top four placers.

Dizzy already has a character model in Xrd, and was expected to join the game eventually, but this vote should make former Dizzy players excited to see how Arc System Works will integrate her into the system of Guilty Gear Xrd.

Check out the full results of the poll after the jump.

Holy Order Sol Leads Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator- Character Vote

Arc System Works' ongoing vote to determine the next character in its newest Guilty Gear will continue until Oct. 12, but according to current standings Holy Order Sol players should get ready to dust off their combos.

HOS leads all voting with 9197 votes, with Dizzy, Bridget and Baiken rounding out the top four. While both Bridget and Baiken are several hundred votes behind—and the rest of the candidates thousands of votes—Dizzy could conceivably still win the poll as she currently has 9052 votes.

There is, however, still plenty of time for last-minute voter rush in Japan, so it's hard to say what character will be announced as the winner by ASW on Oct. 16.

Check out the current standings after the jump, along with voting percentages thanks to Shoryuken.

New YRC Trick Allows Xrd Characters to get Overdrive Invulnerability

Another exploit of the Yellow Roman Cancel engine in Guilty Gear Xrd allows characters to use their invunerability from Overdrive startup for only 25 percent tension.

According to a video from eSports Runner, all characters in Xrd can YRC the beginning of their Overdrive moves before they are active, spending only the meter for the YRC.

However, doing this gives whatever properties the start-up of the Overdrive had, such as first-frame invulnerability, to that character until the YRC is activated. This can give characters new options when dealing with wakeup pressure or the netural game. The trick also exists in the recently released Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator-, where characters can use it with Burst Overdrives without spending their burst.

Check out the video after the jump.

Arc System Works Reveals Possible Characters for Xrd Vote

After announcing a poll that will decide which character should be added to Guilty Gear Xrd, Arc System Works has now revealed the characters that will be possible for players to choose.

While the field is not wide open to allowing characters from other franchises or just anyone in the Guilty Gear universe, ASW has provided a large field of entrants for players to choose from. They are:

A.B.A, Izuna, Valentine, Kliff Undersn, Zappa, Justice, Holy Order Sol, Dizzy, Testament, Dr. Paradigm, Baiken, Fanny, Bridget, Anji Mito, Raven and Robo-Ky

While some candidates are not as widely known as others—Fanny appeared in Guilty Gear Petit, a game released only on WonderSwan—there is definitely a variety from which to choose. As stated originally, only players of the arcade version of Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator will be able to vote, as it will require in-game currency. ASW also has yet to reveal the times and dates of the election, only saying they will be released later.

Arc System Works to Hold Vote for Next Xrd Character

During the release stream of Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator, ASW revealed that the company will be holding a vote to see what character it will add to the Xrd franchise next.

Players will seemingly be able to vote by completing certain game modes in the Revelator arcade game, but the exact rules and details of the vote were not announced during the stream.

As the vote is only taking place within the arcade game (as of this time), it looks like regions outside Japan will have little to no say in which character returns to the franchise.

Guilty Gear Xrd Color Glitch by Kensou

Kensou has recorded an interesting glitch in Guilty Gear Xrd for PlayStation 4. While playing on his friend Mattix's system, the game gave the players access to gold and shadow colors for the entire cast, and also showed different character art for Leo Whitefang.

The gold and shadow palettes replace colors seven and eight for each character, but both Ramlethal and Elphelt's seem unfinished. In previous Guilty Gear games, gold and shadow colors were unlockable and gave special benefits to their character. It seems that they were originally going to be part of Xrd but were not finished.

Kensou says he is unsure as to how they managed to glitch the game, but that it also immediately crashed when they tried to pick Leo's stage. Check out the video after the jump.

Japanese Xrd Player Memories of Evo 2015 Translated by Tenma

In the aftermath of Evolution 2015, Japanese Guilty Gear Xrd players Nage, Woshige and Rion posted their experiences and thoughts about coming to the U.S. and competing in Las Vegas.

Tenma translated these posts—sometimes consisting of multiple tweets—and combined them into small blogs so that English speakers can see how Japanese players prepared for their trips and the tournament itself.

Defending Against Sol in Guilty Gear Xrd by Japhro77

YouTube user Japhro77 has produced an almost eight-minute video tutorial about the many ways players can, should and should not act when pressured by Sol Badguy in Guilty Gear Xrd. The video covers many common scenarios, including Gun Flame, Bandit Bringer and Fafnir pressure, and while all of the footage was recorded in the corner it applies to many situations in the middle of the screen as well.

Each option for the defending player is color coded to describe the amount of risk intrinsic to the defensive option. While no option is 100 percent risk free, the video should give many players an idea of how they can escape Sol's pressure if they are prepared for it.
