Guilty Gear Xrd Limited Edition Delayed

The limited edition version of Arc System Works' Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- will not be hitting store shelves when the standard version does on Dec. 16. According to North American publisher Aksys Games, worker strikes have caused the LE to fall behind schedule:

"However, we regret to inform our fans that the Limited Edition will be delayed due to the unforeseen strikes at the Port of Los Angeles and Port of Long Beach, which have held up key components. Due to the unpredictable nature of the delay, there may be a one to two week postponement of the release of the Limited Edition.”

Aksys apologized for the delay and promises to provide updates on the situation as soon as it can. As stated above, the standard edition of the game will not be affected by the delay.

Latest PlayStation 4 System Software Disables Compatibility from Akishop Customs' PS360+

Players won't be able to try out the North American demo of Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- with the popular all-in-one controller board.

The recent firmware updates done to the PlayStation 4's operating system have prevented Akishop Customs' PS360+ board to work on the platform. At the moment, players are limited to using the DualShock 4 controller, arcade sticks licensed by Sony or padhacking the DS4.

Akishop Customs originally had plans to feature full PS4 compatibility on its board. Due to console limitations, the feature was limited to eight minutes of use per plug in. The company included this short-term solution on version 1.4 and 1.5.

Despite this disadvantage, the PS360+ (version 1.5) can still work on PlayStation 4 but only limited to Skullgirls on PS4 or any other game that features the custom compatibility software.

Learn Faust Quickly by Honzo Gonzo

Honzo Gonzo is learning Guilty Gear XX Accent Core +R in anticipation of the release of Xrd in December, and he has released two small videos for Faust that may help other players new to the game. The first video is a brief rundown of combos that +R Faust can do that will still work in the new Gear title, and the second is a brief description of the main tools players will need to know as they work to improve their gameplay.

Both of these videos are targeted at new players, so they do not touch on more advanced combo techniques such as jump installing and do not explain in depth how to execute Faust's fautless defense cancel. And while Faust has several changes to his special moves and normals in Xrd, these two guides should help players looking for a quick breakdown of how the character handles as they venture into Guilty Gear.

Hit the jump for the videos.

Guilty Gear Xrd Character Guides, Frame Data by 4Gamer

Japan's 4Gamer has created its own Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign- wiki, complete with breakdowns of each character in the game. The character pages have basic information, such as move lists and biographies, but also show the ways a character's normals can chain—in GG terms, gatling—and include combo videos with slow motion replays in case viewers could not see the moves used in regular speed.

The biggest thing the 4Gamer site offers to Guilty Gear veterans, however, is the inclusion of frame data for each of the characters in the arcade version of Guilty Gear Xrd.

While the entire wiki is in Japanese, the site offers a starting resource for U.S. Gears players who are already thinking about Dec. 16.

New Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign- Images Show Different Game Modes

Gematsu has posted several screenshots of the upcoming console version of GG Xrd, showing off some of the modes that will be available when the game launches Dec. 4 in Japan.

Players of Arc System Works games will immediately notice Story, Training Mode and Challenge Mode all returning, as in other ASW titles such as BlazBlue and Persona 4 Arena. What is new, however, is Xrd's Player Match lobby system. According to the article, "up to eight people can enter a room, and four matches are carried out simultaneously ... watch other players’ matches, and text and AV chat with other users in the room."

This seems much different from the arcade-style worldwide lobby used in BlazBlue Chronophantasma and the upcoming Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. However, it is unknown if the Player Match lobby shown in the screenshots is the only way to challenge other players outside of Ranked Match.

Check out the rest of images at Gematsu.

Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign- Releases December 4 in Japan

According to Siliconera, which cites leaks from Famitsu, the latest entry in the Guilty Gear franchise will launch on Dec. 4, 2014, in Japan for both PlayStation 3 and 4.

The game will be released by Aksys Games in the U.S. but currently has no concrete street date, although it is scheduled to launch in 2014 as well.

The timing of the proposed release will give players very little time to practice for several winter tournaments, including Northeast Championships and Frosty Faustings. And with no U.S. release date set as of yet, it will be interesting to see if the two releases will be simultaneous or not.
