Nintendo Releases Details on Smash Invitational at E3
Last month, Nintendo announced the first-ever company-organized Super Smash Bros. tournament, to take place during Electronic Entertainment Expo 2014. Not only is this the first Nintendo-run Smash tournament, but it will also be the first tournament for the upcoming Super Smash Bros for Wii U, the next iteration in their acclaimed franchise. Nintendo has shed some light on information regarding the tournament to help people get a bit more excited as E3 2014 inches closer.
There will be "16 highly-skilled Super Smash Bros. players" participating in Super Smash Bros. Invitational, although none have been named so far. The tournament will be hosted on Tuesday, June 10, starting at 4:00 p.m. PST, and will be streamed on both Twitch's E3 channel and Nintendo's Twitch channel. Nintendo also says that "the tournament will also be shown" on their YouTube channel.
For those looking to spectate the tournament in person, the invitational will be held at the Nokia Theater. Wristbands will be required for entry, and only 3,000 wristbands will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. Wristband distribution will happen at the Nokia Plaza at L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles at 9:30 a.m. PST on the day of the tournament.
