BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma Coming to PS3, New Screenshots & Gameplay Details

Famtisu revealed this week that BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma will indeed have a console release, but according to Andria Sang, it might be PS3 only -- at least in Japan. While we'll have to wait a bit longer to get full details on whether or not the game is coming out for XBOX360, the preview in Famitsu revealed some more details about the game not to mention a handful of new screenshots.

NEW BLAZBLUE: CHRONO PHANTASMA SCREENSHOTS

Producer Toshimichi Mori says they are treating Chrono Phantasma as a new game which I assume means there will be major overhauls to the gameplay system and characters.  The first of these new gameplay elements is the Over Drive system which is meant to counter act the defensive nature of the Burst system. When your character goes into Over Drive mode their special attacks get a boost and they become more powerful overall.

He mentions that beyond the versus fighting he hopes to include many more gameplay elements to keep players entertained (think story mode).

He also mentioned that they are putting a lot of effort into the netplay. BlazBlue has always had exceptional netcode but he mentions that if they achieve what they are aiming for it will be amazing.

The console version is about 30% complete while the arcade release is slated to hit Japanese gamecenters come winter.

VF5FS: Console Patch Incoming to Allow Timer Skip in Player Matches

Reno over at VFDC posted that SEGA of Japan just announced that a patch is set to drop come August 7th that will allow players to now skip the 30 second timer in player matches. This was of course a big complaint from many fans as the 30 second wait meant you could not immediately rematch your opponent. Now you can press X (360) or Square (PS3) to bypass it completely.

No word on if or when this patch will be coming to other regions outside of Japan but it is said to fix a few other bugs which you can read about on VFDC

No Mercy Fridays (VF5/SCV/T6) Results & Replays, Saturday Night Snapback (SSF4/UMVC3) Tonight at 7PM PDT

Last night we held our very first 3D night at Southtown Arcade, No Mercy Fridays! Going into this we had no idea what to expect considering I don't really have my finger on the pulse of the 3D community. While we've always had a good turnout for VF5:FS and I knew there was a strong SCV community in the Bay Area, nothing could have prepare me for close to 30 entrants for T6:BR. I figured people were pretty hungry for some Tekken with TAG2 right around the corner but this was insane!

BRACKETS: VF5FS | SCVT6

The arcade was packed all night long with not only the likes of Mr. Naps, Hates, Renzo, Crazy Drunk, QDogg, SubtL, Willpower, K30, Johnny and many other vets, there seemed to be a TON of new faces as well which is always awesome to see.

That said, we had a few bumps in the road and we didn't get out of the arcade until close to 2:30AM. For those of you who attended, we sincerely appreciate the support and I hope you can bear with us as we work out a few kinks in the process. We promise it will be much more streamlined in the future.

We're not done yet though! Saturday Night Snapback airs tonight at 7PM PST with Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 at 9PM. Watch it live on TwitchTV!

In any case, hit the jump for full replays of each game and a break down of the top three results.
