I didn't know Grime and SF4 went well together....

For anyone who follows electronic music or hip-hop should know what "grime" is, the violent garage/2step influenced brand of UK hip-hop. If you do follow the "grime" scene then you know who JME is. Who knew that the "serious" MC played a bit of SF4? I mean, he might play Gouken on pad but whatever, it's still too damn cool!

BIZARRE FIGHTING GAME FINDS #2

Have you ever had the feeling of "I wish I never had the internet"? I have that feeling almost everyday. The internet has ruined my innocence forever.

This week on "Bizarre Fighting Game Finds" we dive into the world of uncomfortable combo videos and Street Fighter 2 hacks that just don't seem quite right.

Hope you enjoy!

                  The King Of....weird combo videos?

Have you ever watched something only to find yourself scratching your head afterward? This video definitely made me pull out a few hairs. The awful editing, the out of place music, and awkward pacing makes for a video that leaves you feeling dirty.

The Ballad of Koryu

If you've ever played a Street Fighter 2 hack named "Koryu" then you know what to expect. If you haven't, I recommend watching the video and tracking down a copy of the ROM ASAP. Imagine SF2 but flipped upside down and thrown into a blender filled with programming bugs and vomit. Set this all to JPOP and you have yourself a pretty bizarre video.

GREAT MOMENTS IN FIGHTING GAME HISTORY #2

This week on "Great Moments In Fighting Game History", I bring you some rather "classic" entries. Last week we dove into something new (Justin playing Fei Long), this week we have a bit of everything. Enjoy!

Iyo vs RF in the Street Fighter 4 National Tournament

Who ever thought that a Dhalsim would win the first Japanese SF4 national tourney? I certainly didn't. In this video you see some amazing Dhalsim play along with some seriously clutch moments from Iyo. Why did he have to retire? :(

J double perfects Kokujin

J lays some of that Makoto magic on Kokujin and ends up double perfecting him. Completely hilarious how Kokujin gets up after the second perfect. Too sweet for words.

Ricky and Emphy style on each other at Keystone 2

Two of Americas best "Third Strike" players duel it out in this intense series of fights. Watch Emphy pull a "Daigo" and perform a stylish comeback! Simply legendary stuff!

Mike Z dominates Heartnana at EVO2009

Heartnana might have swept EVO2K9 with his Japanese-trained Noel, but never underestimate "BIG SOVIET DAMAGE!" Mike Z. As we can see here, Mike Z gets inside Heartnanas head and completely dominates him.

LET'S GO JUSTIN!!!!!

The Japanese will never let this go. Let's go Justin!

Dark Prince Vs. Clockw0rk Money Match

Didn't your mama say "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all"? Unfortunately, Dark Prince never took this to heart and trashed talked the whole east coast accumlating in a money match between Clockw0rk and Dark Prince himself. Clockw0rk won and we haven't heard much from Dark Prince since. I wonder where he went?

Thanks for reading! If you have any moments you would like to share you can send them straight to my email. See you guys later!

BIZARRE FIGHTING GAME FINDS!

The internet is a strange, dark, damp world full of things that you wish you never saw and full of things you wish you never would forget.

I spend most of my time on the internet poking around on youtube, and every once in a while you'll come across something fighting game related that will leave you scratching your head in disbelieve and awe. This week I thought I would show you some of my favorites!

KSK and MOV fight a blind kid in Mortal Kombat on Japanese TV?

Can someone explain this to me? What I can take from just watching it is very limited. KSK and MOV (Two top Third Strike players) go on a Japanese gameshow to battle a blind kid from the US(?) in Mortal Kombat? I'm not exactly sure what to think of this but KSK looks really stressed out when hes playing the game.

A collection of Street Fighter II bugs from a Japanese DVD

What we got here is a collection of some of the strangest bugs from the Street Fighter II series. We've all seen Guile's "handcuffs" (the first bug in the video), but some of these I've never seen before such as the duo-Blanka bug and the bonus stage related bugs. Pretty insane stuff.

Mugen is pretty stupid.

t

Have you ever seen "Evil Dan" fight "Street Fighter the Movie" Guile and some weird Japanese character that spanks you with a spoon? Well, now you have. Also, why does this look like it's ripped from a casette tape?

The Ballad Of .......Guilty Gear?

This is another one that leaves me speechless. What looks/sounds like a normal Japanese ballad turns into a fight of Guilty Gear XX. On top of being bizarre on its own, it's littered with off-kelter soundbites from something completely different. After I watched this I locked myself in my room and called my mom. Help.

A collection of "lose faces" set to Russian music? Really?

I found this while poking around on youtube. The title explains it all really. Really? Really.

Check back next week for some more and always feel free to submit your own clip and I'll probably post it on here!

This was a thrilling tourney! JWong vs Daigo in the SF4 grand finals was an awesome match to watch. Justin pulled out some Fei Long magic, but it wasn't enough to win the set sadly. (Sigh, I really wanted to see Justin finally beat Daigo!)

On another note, I found an awesome youtube video of Daigo being picked up from the airport before "Seasons Beatings", he talks about the tournaments in Japan compared to the US and Street Fighter related stuff while someone translates for him. Pretty interesting stuff!

SUPER STREET FIGHTER 4: $39.99 AND COMING OUT IN MARCH?

Looks like Gamestop has thrown Super Street Fighter 4 up for presale on their website. Seems like it's only gonna run you $40 bucks and some change. It also gives us a release date: March 23, 2010.

I'm pretty happy that its only going to run me two Jacksons, I was pretty sure that "not going to be full-priced" meant $50 dollars or something along those lines. Thanks Capcom!

(On another note, I would probably still buy the game even if it was $60 bucks. I've gotten way more than $60 dollars of gameplay out of my copy of Street Fighter 4.)

ZERO AND JOE THE CONDOR CONFIRMED FOR TVC!

This shouldn't be surprising to anyone (due to a website leak about a month ago) but IGN has just confirmed Zero and Joe The Condor for the USA release of Tatsunoko Vs Capcom. I'm very excited to see both of these characters finally confirmed, both of these fighters look very very awesome.

I'm actually very excited about the US release of TvC. I was kinda bummed when the game didn't really pick up speed. I think the game is pretty damn fun and aesthetically pleasing. The tourney scene seemed to die out pretty quickly as well. (Probably due to the fact that Karas damn near breaks the game.)

Here's hoping for success and the future of TvC!

CAPCOM FIGHT CLUB: LOCATION TEST FOR SUPER SF4?

Capcom threw this on their blog today:

Below the image they included the tagline "...It’s gonna be super.". Could this be the location test for the massively hyped "Super Street Fighter 4"? I hope so! Hopefully we will see more characters and we'll have a better understanding of the new Ultra system that is much talked about!

GREAT MOMENTS IN FIGHTING GAME HISTORY #1

On this weeks "Great Moments In Fighting Game History":

You've all heard by now that Justin Wong won the last Battlefield Arcadia invational tournament with Fei Long. While Fei Long is universally known as a "Low-Tier" character, Justin really showed some amazing play with him while taking out some of the best players "Empire Arcadia" have to offer. A big thank you goes out to FrameAdvantageDotCom who was nice enough to post some of the matches to youtube.

Justin Wong (FL) vs. Mariodood (ZA)

Justin Wong (FL) vs. Nica KO (AK)

Kin (BL) vs. Justin Wong (FL)

I hope nobody has forgotten about "Third Strike" and if you have, this video will remind you why you used to love the game. (Hey, I still love it!) It's a stellar collection of the top Japanese players doing absolutely amazing things. It really shows how flexible the Third Strike engine can be. This is some of the best gameplay I have EVER seen. Urien unblockables, crazy Dudley chains, parry magic, mindgames, and long didn't-think-that-was-possible combos. Lets get it on now!

Check back next week for "Great Moments In Fighting Game History" #2!

Even more NEW info on Super Street Fighter 4!

Looks like Ono loves giving interviews as of late because IGN just posted a new interview with him.

IGN also posted a new article called "Super Street Fighter 4 Blowout"

  • No more "Indestructible". Looks like they got a bunch of negative feedback regarding the song.
  • Juri is a "sinister" character
  • CPU Seth is going to be even harder.
  • All characters come pre-unlocked
  • Focus attacks will have different frame data.
  • Mentions that "joke characters" are an integral part of the Street Fighter universe.

Looks like Capcom is really paying attention to the fans for this release. This has me very excited but also concerned that the game is being rushed out the door in some way. Eight new characters? How could that possibly be balanced? Then again, Capcom can make miracles come true! So lets make it happen Capcom!

Also, I liked "Indestructible". You guys suck.

(Thank you to "HeartOfBattle" for the youtube version of the interview)
