Real Honest Sundays 4.6 Replays - The King of Upsets

The latest replays for Southtown Arcade's Real Honest Sundays are now live on YouTube featuring hours of KOFXIII and CvS2 action. This was the final ranbat for the season, and while BBZ came out on top once again for KOFXIII, the tournament itself was full of upsets and major blow-ups. This once again proved that you cant sleep on anyone in this game and plenty of players such as JD, RogerDodger and Gen D are still hungry to take down those who are content with their gameplay

RESULTS: KOFXIII | CVS2

CvS2 had another solid turnout as well and continues to bring the hype with a ton of great matches from the likes of Leezy, Black Rob, Lion X and others. Everyone is hype for the CvS2 side tournament at EVO so they were getting in as much practice as possible.

Check out all the replays after the jump and stay tuned for the full breakdown of points very soon!

CvS2 : EVO 2K12 CvS2 Side Tournament & Kansai Ranbats

The Southtown Ranbat season is over(for now), but that doesn't mean there should be any stop watching more CvS2! I uploaded some videos on my Youtube Channel with some Japanese players gathering for a Ranbat held in Kansai every so often. There are some diverse teams this time around, including appearances of K-Chang, K-Boxer, and C-Hibiki. I do not have any of the names for this players unfortunately, but if you can help that would be great! Embed Playlist after the break.

If you are attending EVO this year, be sure to check out the BYOC area. I will be hosting a CvS2 Side Tournament along with some other NorCal CvS2 heads. So come on over and support this old classic, or at least to say hi and play some casuals. More information in this thread here. If you have any questions, let me know! I hope to see you all there!

Hey there everyone! Just giving you another set of CvS2 uploads on my Youtube Channel. So go on over and check out some top tier play from Yane, KOH, and others! I also have no idea why it is called "Encyclopedia Tsugunosuke Matches". I could be wrong in the translation but I find it pretty hilarious anyway. Embedded playlist after the break.

For those of you going to EVO, there will be a CvS2 side tournament that I am help hosting this year on Saturday of that weekend. So come on over and give a shout out..and maybe even play the game....*gasp!*

Real Honest Sundays 4.5 - Put 'Em on Blast With the Instant Replays & the Birth of Shin J'

This past Sunday we had what I would say to be easily one of our top three most exciting King of Fighters XIII tournaments. There were a ton of blow ups across the board with some close matches between STA regulars Fixel, BBZ and J' and RAMnation heads Tyram and CJ Soulstar. This was easily J's (Reiki's) breakout tournament as he did some serious damage in the brackets and proved he is one NorCal player to never sleep on!

RESULTS: KOFXIII | CVS2

CvS2 is still going strong week after week too! Of course Leezy came out on top -- big surprise -- but Tyram put up a good fight coming in second and showing that after all these years he's still got it.

As I mentioned in the SNSB post, we also had some new instant replay technology we were screwing around with all weekend as well. We put this bad boy to extra use on Sunday and we're able to break down key moments in many matches all day long. Be sure to check out this new feature and let us know what you think about the technology in the comments!

CvS2 : D44BAS vs Bouchan Set

So, I have uploaded a set of matches between D44BAS and Bouchan on my Youtube Channel. Both of these players are very well known for being the best players at their respective Grooves. Bouchan is a top K Groove player, who is considered to be among the best along the likes of Ino. While D44BAS needs no introduction if you follow CvS2 since its inception. He is one of the best A Groove players, and if not the best player, in the world winning many tournaments including EVO. Embedded Playlist and link after the break.

Speaking of EVO, if you are attending, then the Run It Back crew will be hosting a Side Tournament at the BYOC area on Saturday. So come on over and support this game!

CvS2 : Tiger Raid Oddities

Yane has just recently uploaded a video about some...interesting oddities of Sagat's Tiger Raid. The initial test showed that a Level 3 Tiger Raid hits 7 times beating out Blanka's standing fierce. However following that, it shows the Tiger Raid hitting 6 times against Blanka's standing roundhouse.

This leads into the conclusion that certain moves that have a higher hitbox and smaller lower hurtbox, will actually make one hit of the Tiger Raid miss. This is pretty important to know because Sagat's Tiger Raid intially hits low first, and if he were to miss that low hit then you can beat out Level 1/2s due to their invincibilty frames running out. Similarly, an attack that has a fat hitbox hitting low without a hurtbox nearby will beat out Level 1/2 Tiger Raids.

Check out the embedded video after the break.

Southtown Arcade Ranbats S4.4 Results & Replays feat. Heroic (Amazing Iron Fist), STA WindZero, IGL HonzoGonzo, BBZ, Hellpockets, Leezy & More!

I know many of you weren't able to catch this weekend's set of  ranbats at Southtown Arcade due to everything else that was going on -- and that's fine! All the replays are now live on our YouTube Channel and feature some amazing matches all around.

Notably you have to check out the Saturday Night Snapback UMVC3 matches with Heroic as he brought the heat with one of the best Iron Fists I've seen. Crispy Tacoz, STA WindZero and IGL HonzoGonzo also had some great fights as well but there can only be one champion. Check out the long Grand Finals set between STA WindZero and IGL HonzoGonzo to see who came out on top.

If you're a fan of DeeJay, be sure to watch the SSF4 matches. It seemed like every other match featured DeeJay this weekend, but did they have what it takes to defeat the likes of SBA Harrison and Hoodaman?

Of course, even on a slower weekend KOFXIII brought the hype. Hellpockets and myself had some down to the wire matches, not to mention some huge upsets throughout the tournament with many other players.  Don't miss it if you're a fan of KOFXIII!

And big surprise, Leezy blew through the CvS2 competition once again. Watch those replays to see him branch out with characters such as Dhlasim and E. Honda.

All the replays are after the jump and to see the brackets for each game check Southtown's Challonge page. Current standings for each game can be found to the right. Enjoy!

CvS2 : All C-Groove Tournament

How is it going everyone? Again are some midweek uploads, and this time it features a variety of players that participated in a tournament that states you can only use C Groove! Obviously hilarity ensues when certain players who don't normally play C Groove are forced to. I don't have any of the names on me however, but nevertheless check them out on my Youtube Channel! Playlist and Embedded Playlist after the break.

I have been contemplating on how to do my basic character run downs for newer people interested in the game. For instance, I have thought about making a super basic video for people starting out, as well as a written guide. This of course will slow things down a bit, but do rest assure that I haven't forgotten about that. Let me know what you think!

For those of you going to EVO 2012, I will be hosting a CvS2 Side Tournament on Saturday in the BYOC area along with the Run It Back crew! If you are attending please do at least swing on by and hopefully you know...participate in the side tournament as well!

CvS2 : Red White Games

Some more upload of high level Japanese CvS2 for you guys today! It features a Ranbat that takes place for the Kansai region of Japan as well as Ibaraki VIP's Red White Games. The Red White games are usually a huge 2 team tournament with some of the best players around. This time it is Team Yane vs Team UWB featuring some prominent players like Bouchan, Chari, and YSK. So check them out on my Youtube channel! Playlist link and video after the break.

To those confused about the sequence of videos, Youtube has recently had a glitch at the beginning of May not letting me upload videos longer than 15 minutes despite letting me do so before that. So apologies, I will have to keep splitting videos into smaller chunks until they resolve this problem.

STA Ranbats 4.2 - Saturday Night Snapback & Real Honest Sunday Replays for UMVC3, SFxTK, SSF4, KOFXIII & CVS2

Just a quick update that the replays for our last set of ranbats from Southtown Arcade are now live on YouTube. They've been uploaded for a while now but I've been too busy in Japan to get around to posting about them. The HD replays got screwed up for some reason so no 720p this time around. Sorry!

That said, the UMVC3 tournament was super sick as we had some great players such as Crispy Tacoz come out of the woodwork to fight it out against STA regulars like WindZero and HonzoGonzo. KOFXIII was hype as always and we even had a second cab for CvS2 this time around. Ricky Ortiz made a guest appearance as well so maybe we can expect to see him compete in the next one?

Lastly, we held a SF x TK (1v1) tournament with Gems and it ended up being a lot of fun. Though very few people entered everyone was convinced this is the way to play the game. Hey, no time-outs and the matches ran faster too. Whoda' thunk it?

Check out a few matches after the jump and find the rest on our channel. Keep in mind our next series of ranbats is this coming weekend! Don't miss 'em if you're in the area or at least tune into the stream if you cant make it.

CvS2 : All N Groove Tournament

First of all, shoutouts to everyone that tuned in or was able to make it to the CvS2 Ranbats last Sunday! Having 24 entrants has made it one of the biggest turnouts ever for the game! Thank you for supporting CvS2 11 years after it was released as one of the best classic games of all time!

To spice things up inbetween Ranbats, I uploaded an all N Groove Japanese tournament on my Youtube Channel. Everyone who is considered a top player in Japan has to pick this undderated Groove in order to compete, so crazyness ensues! I do hope that they hold one of these for each different Groove to see how top Japanese players push it to the limit. See playlist link and embed playlist after the break!

CvS2 : Gamespot Versus Part 3

I have uploaded some more videos of the Gamespot Tournament to my Youtube Channel. It features some good high level Japanese play so go check them out if you haven't! Preview and playlist after the break.

In addition, I am wondering how interested people are of basic simple writeups of how the game works for the newer generation of players. This will include talking about the Grooves, basics on how to start playing a specific character, and can go into other things. The goal is to hopefully make someone who is interested in the game, but missed the competitive boat back in the game's hayday, get better by starting somewhere. Let me know in the comments below what you think!
