Part three of FingerCramp's "Babies Guide" series with Jago has gone live and elaborates another aspect important to fighting games: comboing. While it uses Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 as the game to show off things like chains and links as well as game specific tools, some of the ideas can be applied in almost every fighting game. Frame data from part 2 also applies to this guide when for example a chain combo is whiffed and punished by an opponent's own combo.
Part 4 of the guide next week will discuss the differences between playing on a regular controller and on an arcade stick. Check the video after the break!
While combo videos and stuff like that are always cool and fun to watch nothing really beats these Fighterpedia episodes lately as they keep raising the bar of absolute ridiculousness each time. The last episode was great as they compared the quality of life between Southtown and Metro city, but this Ode to Grapplers takes things to another level, even if it is just six minutes of nonsensical power bombs and izuna drops. The latest episode of Fighterpedia is up and this time around they compare the quality of life between two of fighting games most famous cities: Southtown and Metro City. Big surprise, they both suck as they're ravaged with criminals and are typically just a backdrop for various fighting tournaments and side-scrolling acts of violence!
This is a great episode so be sure to check it out when you have 10 minutes to spare!

Since there's not much news breaking this week, we've been re-watching a few humorous videos over and over for the past few days: UltraDavid as Phoenix Wright, those Primal Rage designers arguing about who had the idea first, and Roommate Konflict. Alright, it's Friday so I guess we can let our hair down around here and post a silly video from YouTube. I just saw this via Facebook which is taken from the Street Fighter cartoon, showing Bison having a ball as he watches Poongko perfect Daigo on the EVO2K11 stream. Okay, well I thought it was funny anyway!
Cammyplayer made yet another funny video about Street Fighter, this time focusing on how to win a tournament.

I'm not entirely sure if the author of this article is a troll or not -- I'll leave that up to our readers to decide -- but either way I have to give it up to Alexander Hinkley for whipping up one of the most hilarious articles I've read in a while. He admits he sucks at the genre but at the same time attempts to detail as to why fighting games are "boring" and require no skill to play.

Fighters don't really take any skill to play, either. A lot of people probably would disagree with this statement and admittedly, I am personally bad at fighters but only because I have no interest at all in playing them. Being "good" at fighters isn't so much about actually having skill as it is having experience with the game and memorizing all of a character's techniques (which can be a ridiculously lengthy list). Once you can perform any technique at will, the only thing you need to do to become "good" is play the game enough to learn what beats what. Then, when your opponent performs a Dragon Uppercut you know you have to counter with a Fireball immediately. This isn't skill at the actual game, it's just memorization of a rock, paper, scissors mechanic.

Cracked.com wrote up a huge article on everything Street Fighter and though some of you may find parts of the article slightly offensive, it's still worth checking out for a couple laughs.
