Sako Tests Out Hori's Fighting Edge Sticks

If you went to a tournament with Sako attending, you probably seen him using a Hori stick. He went to Hori to try out the upcoming Fighting Edge series.

Along with Sako's playtest, more info on the sticks have been revealed. Unlike some of Hori's other stick, the Fighting Edge line uses upgraded proprietary parts. The joystick lever called "Hayabusa" and buttons called "Kuro" got Sako's approval.

On the right side of the acrylic panel is a special LED touch panel. Judging by rough translations and picture clues, the panel includes the start and select commands, d-pad/analog stick selection, and even a way to disable buttons.

Check out the stick in action by Sako after the jump!

Hori Introduces Fighting Edge Line Of Sticks

Along with the announced Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown stick for PlayStation 3, peripheral company Hori has continued on with new arcade stick designs with their latest project known as the Fighting Edge.

Available for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms, the Fighting Edge sticks are a radical departure in design from their previous lines such as the Real Arcade Pro. It has a flat design with the Fighting Edge insignia in the bottom left and a special slanted rest on the bottom. There seems to be special LED lights on the side as well.

The sticks will not be using Sanwa or Seimitsu parts for their joystick and buttons and instead use their updated proprietary hardware. The layout seems to be closer to a Namco Noir panel.

The stick will be available at the Hori official store for ¥19,800 (~$242).

VF5FS: Hori-Modified Real Arcade Pro V3-SA For PS3

Hori has revealed details on their latest Real Arcade Pro stick just in time for Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown.

This stick is based on the V3-SA Real Arcade Pro but instead of the Taito Vewlix layout found in most arcade sticks nowadays, it's based on the Sega Lindbergh control panel with the extra two buttons. Much like other Real Arcade Pros, this version will use Sanwa parts and will only be compatible on PlayStation 3 out of the box.

The stick will only be available on Hori's official store for ¥13,800 (~$169).

Personally, I am a bit disappointed that Sega didn't take the chance to reissue the Virtua Stick High Grade. While the game is still months away, I will stay optimistic for more news.
