Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R Update Coming To Japanese Arcades

A while back, Arc System Works announced that they would have Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus to arcades in a new HD form factor as well as current generation consoles. Now the developer revealed that the arcade update will feature new additions to the existing game.

Now titled Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R, the game is reported to have a balance update as well as new moves for the existing cast of fighters. The game will now be running on Sega's Ringwide hardware instead of usually being on Sega NAOMI.

If you are or will be in Japan in the coming weekend, Accent Core Plus R will be available to play during location tests in Tokyo (Club Sega Akihabara Shinkan), Osaka (Sega Nanban Avion) and Kitakyushu (Hyper Messe). There is no confirmation that if the changes will affect the upcoming downloadable console release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Arc System Works also revealed an official website dedicated to the update but as of this post, it's currently out. For now check out a special video by the developer and a translation of the current balance changes after the jump!

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus Coming to XBLA and PSN

Arc System Works just announced on their official website that Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus is coming to both XBLA and PSN with netplay (of course). This is hot off the heels of their most recent announcement that they would be porting the game to arcades as well. Many users suspected they were prepping the game for console release due to the recent screenshots being 16:9 -- looks like they were right!

Now all we need is CVS2 on XBLA/PSN and I can die a happy man.

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus Coming to Arcades, New Screenshots

Now this is something I figured would never happen in a million years, but Arc System Works announced they will be porting over Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus to arcades and will bring this version to Japan's AOU Amusement Expo this weekend.

NEW GGXX AC + ARCADE SCREENSHOTS

You can play this game on PSP, PS2 and Wii but for whatever reason it was never ported to arcades. I'm no GG expert so correct me if I'm wrong, but apparently there were no major system changes in this version, but it did bring back both Kliff and Justice and introduced a new story mode.

It's not known if there will be any additional changes to the arcade version of the game but we will keep you posted. And hey, who knows, maybe it will show up at Southtown Arcade?

Guilty Gear AC Basic Mechanics Tutorial Video

Hitconfirm has made a great Guilty Gear XX AC video tutorial showing the mechanics and intricacies of the game. They aimed to keep the tutorial simple to understand to help both new players and fans.

It's awesome that the GG community is dedicated enough to make videos like this. Now, if only Daisuke Ishiwatari would finally make a sequel!!

Check out the tutorial after the break.

Arc System Works Now Owns The Rights To Guilty Gear

Siliconera posted up an interesting story on how Arc System Works once again owns the rights to Guilty Gear. You may not remember, but a while back Sammy (who originally owned the IP) merged with SEGA, and during the merger Guilty Gear was passed onto the newly formed Sega Sammy Holdings. Obviously nothing really significant happened with Guilty Gear since then.

Today, Arc System Works filed a trademark in the Japanese trademark database, so it seems Arc System Works has claimed the IP for themselves. There aren't any details of how they obtained the IP, but it's assumed they bought the rights back from SEGA.

The bigger picture here is, could a new Guilty Gear be closer than we think? Only time will tell.

Thanks to lexxxington for the tip.

Interview with Daisuke Ishiwatari on Everything Guilty Gear

Part two of Siliconera's interview with Guilty Gear creator Daisuke Ishiwatari is now live, where he talks about character design, game balance and a few other topics surrounding the game. This is also the part of the interview where he mentions that a new Guilty Gear will happen, he just doesn't know when. Check out the entire interview by clicking here

Daisuke Ishiwatari Says New Guilty Gear Will Happen "Eventually"

Guilty Gear is widely regarded as one of the best fighting game series of all time, so long time fans should be happy to hear about this news. In a recent interview with Siliconera, Guilty Gear creator Daisuke Ishiwarari mentions that he doesn't know when a new entry into the series will come about, but it will happen "eventually" and "you won't be disappointed."

This is obviously a prime time to release a new fighting game, though with the influx of new players over the past few years we'll have to see if a game like this will take off next to more "familiar" titles such as Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. Could a new Guilty Gear replace BlazBlue or will the games be able to happily co-exist? Only time will tell, but as long as we're not getting trolled with something like Guilty Gear 2: Overture, I think everything will turn out alright.

IMNEXTONLINE: Character Analysis

First off, if you haven't checked out IMNEXTONLINE.COM, you should; it's a great site with up-to-date news with some interesting original articles to boot.  One of the more interesting segments on INO is their Character Analysis articles. We all know about Ryu and Ken, but they go into detail on lesser known characters, providing what is more or less a mini-strategy guide for each one. They also give the history of each character along with other bits of information.

PRE-SBO GUILTY GEAR ACCENT CORE TIER LIST

Here's the latest GGAC tier list from Arcadia.

S: Eddie, Testament
A: Millia
B: May, Potemkin, Jam, Slayer
C: Sol, Ky, Chipp, Faust, Baiken, Axl, Anji, Venom, Dizzy, I-No, Zappa, Robo Ky, ABA, Order Sol
D: Johnny, Bridget

Seeing as last year's SBO came down to a team of Testament/Millia/Venom vs Johnny/Bridget/Zappa, it will be interesting to see what happens this year. How this game constantly evolves and yet manages to remain as balanced as ever is one of the reasons I love it so much. Four more years!

Here's the first match from last year's finals, for reference.

Daisuke Ishiwatari and Toshimichi Mori at Fanime

The man himself, Daisuke Ishiwatari, is a guest of honor at Fanime 2010! Oh, and some Mori guy too.

If you wanna get him to sign your HRAP, your supa kawaii Bridget costume or even if you're just big enough of a dick to ask the man for a money match, you shouldn't miss out on this!

Small excerpt from Fanime.com:

FanimeCon, Aksys Games, and Arc System Works are proud to announce video game creators Daisuke Ishiwatari and Toshimichi Mori as Guests of Honor at FanimeCon 2010.

Daisuke Ishiwatari is famous for creating the Guilty Gear video game series. While he denies having created the game single-handedly, his extensive work on the series includes an eclectic assortment of talents.

Toshimichi Mori also has many talents. He not only directed and produced the BlazBlue video game series but also designed the characters and wrote the scenarios.

More info on Daisuke at Wikipedia.

NEW GUILTY GEAR COMBO VIDEOS

This month has been an active one for the Guilty Gear community, as we've seen two new, incredibly hype combo videos come out.

This one is probably my new favorite Sol Badguy combo video, done by the infamous combo video master Testu. Titled "Sheer Heart Attack", it is one of the few Guilty Gear combo videos that actually features music from Queen; creator Daisuke Ishiwatari's favorite band.

This next one is an I-no combo video, but it's a bit different from most Accent Core I-no combo videos because it features combos that are both useful and actually possible to do!

Guilty Gear Director: "I Fully Intend to Create a Guilty Gear for the PS3 and 360". No Crossover Plans with BlazBlue

At a recent visit to NowGamer, Arc System Works' Business Development Director Tomo Ohno responded to a question about the possibility of a Capcom Vs series style crossover for the company's 2D fighting franchises BlazBlue and Guilty Gear.

“Personally I don’t like that idea,” Ohno replied. “What we can say about Guilty Gear is that it is not dead yet. It has not ended. The producer/creator of Guilty Gear, Daisuke Ishiwatari, his comment for this meeting [was] ‘I have the full intention to create Guilty Gear for PS3 and 360.’

Ohno didn't totally dismiss the chances of a crossover between Guilty Gear and BlazBlue in the future. “It’s a different world – it’s not BlazBlue taking over Guilty Gear, but Guilty Gear is an important thing for us and we want to make sure fans of Guilty Gear continue to have fun in that world."

"BlazBlue is a new thing, and there might be some crossover but at the moment we don’t have any plans.”

ARCADIA MAGAZINE: STREET FIGHTER 4 TIER LIST, TOP JAPANESE ARCADE GAMES

Thanks to VersusCity and SDTEKKEN.com for posting up a ton of new information from the newest Arcadia Magazine (June 2009).

First off, there is the new Street Fighter 4 tier list from Arcadia which is probably the most reputable tier list in Japan at this point. You will see a lot of tier lists floating around but most of them are composed from random Japanese wikis and what not while this comes straight from the players. This is for the arcade version of the game, so no console characters.

S: Sagat
A: Ryu, Akuma, Zangief
B: M.Bison, Rufus, Balrog, C.Viper, E.Honda
C: Abel, El Fuerte, Dhalsim, Chun-li, Blanka
D: Guile, Ken
E: Vega

Personally I find it interesting to see Bison higher than 'Rog and Viper, although Bison is a real hard match up for Viper. Also, why is Chun-Li and Dhalsim rated so low? Not that it matters (except for maybe Guile and Vega), considering that most of us have seen first hand if you master your character in SF4 you can give anyone serious problems.

GUILTY GEAR XX ACCENT CORE PLUS SHIPS THIS WEEK!

Those of you who have had a hard time finding GG:AC in Gamestop, now is your chance to grab an updated version of the game. According to Amazon, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus ships on the 9th of April with a a brand new story mode and the return of Kliff and Justice.

I had a chance to play this just last week and it's a nice change from Street Fighter 4's more defensive style of play. After FADCing for months now the Roman Canceling bit made a lot more sense to me as well this time around. A great game over all, it's just too bad it's not also on XBLA or PSN for online play!
